Consider the same roller coaster. It starts at a height of 40.0 m but once released, it can only reach a height of 25.0 m above
poizon [28]

Answer:

The magnitude of the frictional force between the car and the track is 367.763 N.

Explanation:

The roller coster has an initial gravitational potential energy, which is partially dissipated by friction and final gravitational potential energy is less. According to the Principle of Energy Conservation and Work-Energy Theorem, the motion of roller coster is represented by the following expression:

U_{g,1} = U_{g,2} + W_{dis}

Where:

U_{g,1}, U_{g,2} - Initial and final gravitational potential energy, measured in joules.

W_{dis} - Dissipated work due to friction, measured in joules.

Gravitational potential energy is described by the following formula:

U = m \cdot g \cdot y

Where:

m - Mass, measured in kilograms.

g - Gravitational constant, measured in meters per square second.

y - Height with respect to reference point, measured in meters.

In addition, dissipated work due to friction is:

W_{dis} = f \cdot \Delta s

Where:

f - Friction force, measured in newtons.

\Delta s - Travelled distance, measured in meters.

Now, the energy equation is expanded and frictional force is cleared:

m \cdot g \cdot (y_{1} - y_{2}) = f\cdot \Delta s

f = \frac{m \cdot g \cdot (y_{1}-y_{2})}{\Delta s}

If m = 1000\,kg, g = 9.807\,\frac{m}{s^{2}}, y_{1} = 40\,m, y_{2} = 25\,m and \Delta s = 400\,m, then:

f = \frac{(1000\,kg)\cdot \left(9.807\,\frac{m}{s^{2}} \right)\cdot (40\,m-25\,m)}{400\,m}

f = 367.763\,N

The magnitude of the frictional force between the car and the track is 367.763 N.

What is the problem with using your boat's engine to drive it onto a trailer?
Elenna [48]
Silt and other wash can accumulate behind the motor and if other boats are added they can get their hulls damaged or scraped then, depending on the size of the material. It can also cause trailers to get stuck if they drive into the place from where the boat came.

How long does it take the moon to go through an entire set of phases?.
Bas_tet [7]

It take <u>approximately 29</u><u>.</u><u>5 </u><u>days</u> for moon to do its entire set of phases.

<h3>Explanation</h3>

The Moon is the only natural satellite of the Earth which undergoes three motions, that is :

  • Rotating on its own axis
  • Evolving around the Earth
  • Together with the Earth evolving around the sun as the center of the solar system

With that, the moon has two periods of revolution, namely:

  • Sidereal revolution, which is the original revolution of the Moon. This sidereal revolution is really the time it takes the Moon to orbit the Earth. The sidereal revolution of the moon has a time span of <u>27.3 days</u> or more accurate is approximately 27 days, 7.72 hours.
  • Synodic revolution, namely the revolution of the Moon as seen from Earth as a series of moon phases (from the new moon phase, to the next new moon phase). The synodic revolution is slower, because the Moon needs to catch up with the Earth rotating in the same direction as the Moon. The synodic revolution of the moon has a time span of 29.5 days or to be more accurate approx 29 days, 12.734 hours.

The dog would have traveled a greater distance than the bug.
The car goes faster than the dog and will travel to the end of the road faster than the dog.

Hope this helps! Have a great day :)
