A thought experiment aims to promote speculative thinking, logical reasoning, and paradigm shifts. Thought experiments force us to address problems we find difficult to answer, which forces us out of our comfort zone. They highlight knowledge gaps and aid in recognizing the boundaries of what is knowable.

What are thought experiments?

Thought experiments are imaginative methods for examining the nature of things. They are employed for a variety of purposes in a number of disciplines, including physics, economics, history, mathematics, and philosophy.

A thought experiment is a test that we do in our minds. Here, we will imagine a specific scenario, consider some of its repercussions, and come to a broad conclusion.

Therefore, a thought experiment aims to promote speculative thinking, logical reasoning, and paradigm shifts. Thought experiments force us to address problems we find difficult to answer, which forces us out of our comfort zone. They highlight knowledge gaps and aid in recognizing the boundaries of what is knowable.

Transformer is used in rectifier step up and step down voltage?

tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

While the use of the type of transformer in a rectifier depends on the voltage requirement or to meet desired operating conditions, a step-down transformer is used mainly to reduce the voltage. It is used to bring the high AC voltage level to a reasonable value or the desired output voltage.

Compute the power output (watts) during one minute of treadmill exercise, given the following: Treadmill grade-10% Horizontal sp
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

c. 981 watts

P=981\ W

Explanation:

Given:

 • horizontal speed of treadmill, v=100\ m.min^{-1}=\frac{5}{3} \ m.s^{-1}
 • weight carried, w=588.6\ N
 • grade of the treadmill, G\%=10\%

Now the power can be given by:

P=v.w

P=588.6\times\frac{5}{3} (where grade is the rise of the front edge per 100 m of the horizontal length)

P=981\ W

I need to know the right answer to that question
ad-work [718]
The answer is C 8.87*10^4 m/s (it shouldn't be m/s^2 though as velocity is in m/s)

Since you know the acceleration is 12 m/s^2, the initial velocity is 2.39*10^4 m/s and the time (you have to convert to seconds) is 5400 seconds, then you can use the equation

v = vo + at

When you plug in the values you get

v = 2.39*10^4 + 5400*12 . so v = 8.87*10^4 m/s. C is your answer.

Which of the following is a scalar quantity?
makvit [3.9K]

The only scalar quantity is a. 35 m

Explanation:

In physics, there are two types of quantities:

- Scalar: a scalar quantiy is a quantity having only a magnitude, so it is just a number followed by a unit. Examples of scalar quantities in physics are:

Speed

Energy

Distance

Time

- Vector: a vector quantity is quantity having both a magnitude and a direction. Examples of vector quantities in physics are:

Velocity

Force

Acceleration

Displacement

Let's now analyze each given option, to evaluate if it is a scalar or a vector:

a. 35m --> it is only a unit (no direction), so it is a scalar

b. 20 m to the right --> it has a direction, so it is a vector

c. 30 m to the North --> it has a direction, so it is a vector

So, the only correct option is a).
