An incandescent bulb produces light that comes from the heating of a filament. A compact fluorescent bulb produces light when a substance is hit by electromagnetic radiation. Compact fluorescent bulbs are more efficient than incandescent bulbs.

The first law of thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic processes. Therefore, a system with lower heat emissions would be more efficient.

The second law of thermodynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system (the thermal energy per unit temperature that is unavailable for doing useful work) can never decrease. In our context, it means that the system with the least amount of losses would be more efficient. As a conclusion the fluorescent bulb would be more efficient.

A ball is kicked horizontally from a 60 meter tall cliff at 10 m/s. How far from
o-na [289]

Hi there!

We can begin by deriving the equation for how long the ball takes to reach the bottom of the cliff.

\large\boxed{\Delta d = v_it+ \frac{1}{2}at^2}}

There is NO initial vertical velocity, so:

\large\boxed{\Delta d= \frac{1}{2}at^2}}

Rearrange to solve for time:

2\Delta d = at^2\\\\t = \sqrt{\frac{2\Delta d}{g}}

Plug in the given height and acceleration due to gravity (g ≈ 9.8 m/s²)

t = \sqrt{\frac{2(60)}{(9.8)}} = 3.5 s

Now, use the following for finding the HORIZONTAL distance using its horizontal velocity:

\large\boxed{d_x = vt}\\\\d_x = 10(3.5) = \karge\boxed{35 m}

Why was the Roman empire able to prosper
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The mild climate enabled Romans to grow wheat, grapes, and olives. This abundance o food supported the people and allowed Rome to prosper. While the climate made year-long agriculture possible, Rome also had the advantage to be near water. The Tiber River helped the agricultural system to prosper

A professional baseball player can throw the ball around 45 m/s if the distance between the pitcher and the batter is 18.39 m. H
svetlana [45]

Answer:

The time taken for the ball to get to the batter is 0.41 s.

Explanation:

Given;

initial velocity of the baseball, u = 45 m/s

horizontal distance between the pitcher and the batter, X = 18.39 m

The horizontal distance or range of a projectile is given as;

X = ut

where;

t is the time of flight

u is the initial velocity

t = X / u

t = 18.39 / 45

t = 0.41 s

Therefore, the time taken for the ball to get to the batter is 0.41 s.
