The carbon atom requires additional electrons to form four bonds with hydrogen and other carbon atoms in the synthesis of C2H2.

<h3 /><h3>What is the Hybridization of Ethyne?</h3>
  • Ethyne molecules are essentially 2 CH molecules when broken down. However, we'll first draw the orbital diagrams of the carbon and hydrogen molecules individually.
  • When we do this, we will see that hydrogen has one electron and carbon has six.
  • Now, if we look at the electronic structure of carbon in its ground state, we can see that it is represented as 1s2 2s2 2p2. The electrical configuration will change to 1s2 2s1 2px12py1 2pz1 when it enters an excited state.
  • One of the electrons from the 2s orbital will transfer or jump to the 2pz orbital. The 2s1 and 2pz1 orbitals get hybridized as a result of the CH molecule's single hydrogen atom.
  • As a result, four sp hybridized orbitals are formed, with two of them being formed by each CH molecule.
  • When two sp orbitals from each carbon overlap with the hydrogen's 1s orbital during hybridization, two C-H bonds are generated, forming a C-C sigma bond when each carbon's second sp orbital overlaps with the hydrogen's s orbital.
  • There will be two partially filled 2p orbitals on the carbon atom in this scenario.
  • As a result of the formation of two pi bonds rather than participating in the hybridization, these two pairs of p orbitals create a triple bond.

Find the percentage composition of a compound that contains 1.94 g of carbon, 0.48 g of hydrogen, and 2.58 g of sulfur.
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer : The percentage composition of carbon, hydrogen and sulfur in a compound is, 38.8 %, 9.6 % and 51.6 % respectively.

Explanation :

To calculate the percentage composition of element in sample, we use the equation:

\%\text{ composition of element}=\frac{\text{Mass of element}}{\text{Mass of sample}}\times 100

Given:

Mass of carbon = 1.94 g

Mass of hydrogen = 0.48 g

Mass of sulfur = 2.58 g

First we have to calculate the mass of sample.

Mass of sample = Mass of carbon + Mass of hydrogen + Mass of sulfur

Mass of sample = 1.94 + 0.48 + 2.58 = 5.0 g

Now we have to calculate the percentage composition of a compound.

\%\text{ composition of carbon}=\frac{1.94g}{5.0g}\times 100=38.8\%

\%\text{ composition of hydrogen}=\frac{0.48g}{5.0g}\times 100=9.6\%

\%\text{ composition of sulfur}=\frac{2.58g}{5.0g}\times 100=51.6\%

Hence, the percentage composition of carbon, hydrogen and sulfur in a compound is, 38.8 %, 9.6 % and 51.6 % respectively.

Drag and drop the terms into the correct locations to describe how the relationship between photosynthetic organisms and animals
g100num [7]

Answer:

Photosynthetic bacteria must take in <u>Carbon Dioxide</u> to live, and they release <u>Oxygen </u> . Animals must take <u>Oxygen </u> to live, and they release <u>Carbon Dioxide.</u>

Explanation:

Photosynthesis:

It is the process in which in the presence of sun light and chlorophyll by using carbon dioxide and water plants produce the oxygen and glucose.

Carbon dioxide + water + energy →   glucose + oxygen

water is supplied through the roots, carbon dioxide collected through stomata and sun light is capture  by chloroplast.

Chemical equation:

6H₂O + 6CO₂ + energy  →   C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

Photosynthetic bacteria perform same function as plants.  These bacteria contain light harvesting pigments absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

While animals take oxygen and release carbon dioxide to live. This respiration process is opposite to the photosynthesis.

Glucose + oxygen → carbon dioxide + water + 38ATP

For the chemical reaction
polet [3.4K]

Answer:

806.3g

Explanation:

Given parameters:

 Number of moles of silver nitrate  = 4.85mol

Unknown:

Mass of silver chromate = ?

Solution:

         2AgNO₃ + Na₂CrO₄  →  Ag₂CrO₄ + 2NaNO₃

To solve this problem, we work from the known to the unknown;

  • The known specie here is  AgNO₃ ;

   From the balanced chemical equation;

          2 moles of AgNO₃  will produce 1 mole of Ag₂CrO₄

          4.85 moles of AgNO₃  will produce \frac{4.85}{2}   = 2.43moles of Ag₂CrO₄

  • Mass of silver chromate produced;

        mass = number of moles x molar mass

   Molar mass of  Ag₂CrO₄

    Atomic mass of Ag = 107.9g/mol

                                 Cr  = 52g/mol

                                  O  = 16g/mol

  Input the parameters and solve;

     Molar mass  = 2(107.9) + 52 + 4(16) = 331.8g/mol

  So,

        Mass of Ag₂CrO₄ = 2.43 x 331.8 = 806.3g

How many moles of Na2Cr2O7 contain 14 moles of oxygen atoms?
sergiy2304 [10]
The number of moles of sodium dichromate from the number of moles of oxygen atoms can be determined through stoichiometry. Using the molecular formula of the compound, Na2Cr2O7, 1 mole of the compound contains 7 moles of oxygen. Hence, 14 moles O2*(1 mole Na2Cr2O7/ 7 mole O2) is equal to 2 moles <span>Na2Cr2O7.</span>
