No, because hearing and vision problems are not mutually exclusive. So, some people have both hearing and vision problems. These people would be included twice in the probability.

What is the possible probability of picking a blind or deaf person at random?

No, because there is no distinction between hearing and vision problems. As a result, some people experience difficulties with their hearing and vision.

When two events take place at different times, are they independent of one another?

Students frequently use the terms independent and disjunct interchangeably. The following is the primary distinction: Two occurrences are said to be discontinuous if they cannot happen at the same time. We argue that two occurrences are independent if neither one's likelihood of happening is impacted by the other's.

Each year around 358,000 women die because of complications during pregnancy or childbirth and many more encounter serious problems (WHO, 2012). The vast majority of these problems occur in low-income countries, where poverty increases sickness and reduces access to care. These deaths occur within a context of gender-based, economic, political and cultural discrimination and neglect of women’s right to equal status and equitable access to services. Nearly all of these deaths are preventable because the majority of deaths are caused by hemorrhages, sepsis, hypertensive disorders, prolonged or obstructed labor, and unsafe abortions (Rosenfield, & Maine, 1985).
