When a heterozygote expresses both alleles of a gene pair, this type of inheritance is known as codominance. As a result, the offspring's phenotype combines the phenotypes of its parents. The characteristic is, therefore, neither recessive nor dominant. The codominance of people is illustrated by those with type AB blood. Because and
are codominant and will be expressed jointly as a result of this, a person who inherits both of these alleles will have type AB blood.
The phenotype of the offspring is a combination of the phenotype of the parents. The crimson flower with white spots on it and creatures with black and white coats are two further examples of codominance.
