Intermolecular hydrogen force must be overcome to convert liquid NH3 to NH3 vapour.

Sublimation is the phase transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gaseous phase without passing through the liquid phase.

There are the 3 forces that exist between the 2 molecules of NH3

1. Dispersion force: these forces exist between any 2 molecules regardless of anything else.

2. Hydrogen bonding: H is directly bonded to the extremely electronegative atom N, O and F, hence is nearly stripped off electron due to the large electronegativity difference. Hydrogen being small atom further reduces in size even allowing it to approach other molecules very closely. Here, N, O, and F gathers more partial negative charge.

Due to the closure approach between the molecule and strong partial charge, hydrogen bonding is generally more important than dipole bond.

3. dipole dipole interaction: NH3 is a polar molecule with a permanent separation of charge. Each molecules behaves like a tiny magnet and has positive and negative poles so 2 NH3 molecules attract each other. Dipole dipole interactions are stronger than dispersion force in the small molecules.

Thus we concluded that the hydrogen bond should overcome to convert NH3 to vapours.

You read through a site about inventions that contains the following paragraph:
Ludmilka [50]
The correct option is C. The paragraph is biased, not taking into consideration the other great inventions that have been made. The information given are vague, over generalised, without providing any evidence to support its claims. They are blanket statementso and are not useful at all.

Which of the answer choices correctly identifies a scenario that displays evidence a chemical reaction is occurring?
tigry1 [53]
Sugar burns and turns black. A completely new substance was formed, which is the main pointer for it being a chemical reaction. More evidence would be change of color, odor, and the fact that flammability is a chemical property so setting something on fire would be a chemical change.

What is the relationship between the kinetic energy of molecules in an object nd the objects temperature?
Lady bird [3.3K]

It is C. An increase of temperature results in an increase in kinetic energy of the molecules of the substance.  For example, in a gas the molecules will move about faster.

An object was measured by a worker as
Gre4nikov [31]

Answer:

\boxed{2.8 \, \%}

Explanation:

\text{Percent error} = \dfrac{\lvert \text{Measured - Actual}\lvert}{ \text{Actual}} \times100 \, \%

Data:

Predicted = 17.4 cm

     Actual = 17.9 cm

Calculation:

\text{Percent error} = \dfrac{\lvert 17.4 - 17.9\lvert}{17.9} \times 100 \, \% \\\\= \dfrac{\lvert-0.5\lvert}{17.9} \times 100 \, \% = \dfrac{0.5}{17.9} \times 100 \, \% \\\\= 0.028 \times 100 \, \% = \textbf{2.8 \%}\\\\\text{The percent error in the measurement is } \boxed{\textbf{2.8 \%}}
