The maximum kinetic energy is 0.91 eV

<h3>What is Work Function of a Metal ?</h3>

A Work Function of a Metal is the minimum energy required to liberate an electron from a metal surface. From the formula;

hF = hf + E

  • hF = energy for liberation or illumination
  • hf = work function = 2.8 eV
  • E = kinetic energy

Given that a Barium has a work function of 2.48eV. What is the maximum kinetic energy ?

Convert eV to Joule by multiplying by 1.6 x 10^{-19}

hf = 2.48 x 1.6 x 10^{-19}

hf = 3.968 x 10^{-19} J

If the metal is illuminated by UV light of wavelength 365nm,

E = hF = hc/λ

Where

  • C = speed of light = 3 x 10^{8} m/s
  • h = Planck constant = 6.6 x 10^{-34} Js
  • λ = wavelength = 365 x 10^{-9} m

Substitute all the parameters

hF = (6.6 x 10^{-34} x  3 x 10^{8}) / 365 x 10^{-9}

hF = 1.98 x 10^{-25} /  365 x 10^{-9}

hF = 5.42 x 10^{-19} Joule

The maximum kinetic energy will be

hF = hf + E

Make E the subject of formula

E = hF - hf

E = 5.42 x 10^{-19} - 3.968 x 10^{-19}

E = 1.452 x 10^{-19} J

Convert Joule back to eV by dividing by 1.6 x 10^{-19}

E = 1.452 x 10^{-19} / 1.6 x 10^{-19}

E = 0.9075 eV

Therefore, the maximum kinetic energy is 0.91 eV approximately

After fixing a flat tire on a bicycle you give the wheel a spin. If its initial angular speed was 6.36 rad/s and it rotated 14.7
lesya692 [45]

To solve this problem we will apply the concepts related to the cinematic equations of angular motion. On these equations, angular acceleration is defined as the squared difference of angular velocity over twice the radial displacement. This is mathematically:

\alpha = \frac{\omega^2-\omega_0^2}{2\theta}

Our values are,

\text{Initial angular velocity} = \omega_0 =6.36 rad/s

\text{Final angular velocity} =  \omega =0

\text{Angular displacement} =  \theta = 14.7rev = 29.4\pi rad

Replacing,

\alpha = \frac{- 6.36^2}{29.4\pi}

\alpha = -0.43rad/s^2

Therefore the angular acceleration is -0.43rad/s^2

PLEASE HELP ME IN THIS QUESTION!!!
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

Acceleration is 8.45 and the tension is 2.775

Explanation:

Lets apply the equation F=ma for vertical block,

5-T= 0.5a

foe the frictional force acting on the object,

f=0.11×5 (consider equation no.1)

=0.55N

Applying F=ma for the block which is on surface,

T-0.55=0.5a (consider as equation no.2)

no.1=no.2

5.55=2T

T=2.775

by equation no.1,

4.225=0.5a

a=8.45

Which item(s) would be sufficient to make a circuit?
masya89 [10]

Explanation :

A circuit is the representation of the path of the flow of current. The circuit can be either closed or open.

When the switch is off the circuit is closed circuit and when the switch is not connected the circuit is open.

The items that are sufficient to make a circuit are as follows :

  • Voltage source like a battery.
  • Resistors or electrical equipment like heater, motor etc.

Other components can be ammeter, voltmeter, ac source, variable resistors etc.

What are the two forces involved in an interaction called
natka813 [3]

Answer:These two forces are called action and reaction forces and are the subject of Newton's third law of motion. Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects.
