How do you group the periodic table? by which groups?

Chemistry

The table has seven rows and 18 columns. Each row represents one period; the period number of an element indicates how many of its energy levels house electrons. Sodium, for instance, sits in the third period, which means a sodium atom typically has electrons in the first three energy levels. Moving down the table, periods are longer because it takes more electrons to fill the larger and more complex outer levels.

The columns of the table represent groups, or families, of elements. The elements in a group often look and behave similarly, because they have the same number of electrons in their outermost shell — the face they show to the world. Group 18 elements, on the far right side of the table, for example, have completely full outer shells and rarely participate in chemical reactions.

Elements are typically classified as either a metal or nonmetal, but the dividing line between the two is fuzzy. Metal elements are usually good conductors of electricity and heat. The subgroups within the metals are based on the similar characteristics and chemical properties of these collections.

It depends on other factors to. techniqually this doesent take place in time so it could be that in the future that will be enough but you are probably right. most appliances could not heat water with .1 lb of propane. though it would be luke warm

2. Why are there so many volcanoes in California? <br>
Kruka [31]

Answer:

Most higher risk volcanoes are far from California’s largest cities and several produce heat that’s used to generate electricity in what are the world’s most productive geothermal power plants, such as the Salton Buttes, 160 miles southeast of Los Angeles, and the Clear Lake Volcanic Field 85 miles north of San Francisco that powers the Geysers steam field.

zzz [600]
Metal is a great conductor of heat while rope does not collect heat from the radiation from the sun as much or contain it while if metal is out in the sun all day it just keeps getting hotter and hotter and when you touch the rope it does not have much heat to transfer but the metal slide is hot enough to irritate your skin
