It is important for us to keep our water supply clean and chemically balanced, so that it is potable and we can drink it. Having

Answer:

Drinking water should have the pH 7.

Explanation:

The pH of a substance gives information about its nature. pH is obtained by taking the negative logarithm of the concentration of H+ ions. When a substance is acidic its pH is less than 7.

When the substance is basic its pH value is greater than 7. The pH of a neutral solution is 7. Drinking water shouldn’t have an acidic or basic nature.

If drinking water turns acidic or basic it will create problems to the physiological system of the organisms consuming it. Thus water should have the pH value 7 to be suitable for drinking.

Suppose that a dominant allele (P) codes for a polka-dot tail and a recessive allele (p) codes for a solid colored tail. If two
andrew11 [14]
The correct answer is B. The parents are heterozygous with polka-dot tails, so they both have Pp genotype. The combination of their genotypes (Pp x Pp) could produce 4 genotypes PP, Pp, Pp and pp. Therefore, there is 25% chance for a PP genotype, 25% for a pp genotype and 50% for a Pp genotype. The PP and Pp genotypes produce a polka-dot tail phenotype and the pp genotype produces a solid coloured tail phenotype. In conclusion, there is 75% chance for a polka-dot tail (25% for a PP + 50% for a Pp) and a 25% for a solid coloured tail phenotype (25% for a pp).

How biodiversity is affected by speciation, disruptive, stabilizing, and directional selection?
VikaD [51]

There are several ways selection can affect population variation:

stabilizing selection

directional selection

diversifying selection

frequency-dependent selection

sexual selection

As natural selection influences the allele frequencies in a population, individuals can either become more or less genetically similar and the phenotypes displayed can become more similar or more disparate. In the end, natural selection cannot produce perfect organisms from scratch, it can only generate populations that are better adapted to survive and successfully reproduce in their environments through the aforementioned selections.
