A block of mass m is attached to a rope wound around the outer rim of a disk of radius R and moment of inertia I, which is free

to rotate around an axle passing through its center of mass. The rope does not slip. What are the acceleration of the block and the tension in the string

Answer:

Explanation:

I is the moment of inertia of the pulley, α is the angular acceleration of the pulley and T is the tension in the rope. Let a is the linear acceleration.

The relation between the linear acceleration and the angular acceleration is

a = R α   .... (1)

According to the diagram,

T x R = I x α

T x R = I x a / R      from equation (1)

T = I x a / R²      .... (2)

mg - T = ma    .... (3)

Substitute the value of T from equation (2) in equation (3)

mg - \frac{Ia}{R^{2}}=ma

a=\frac{mg}{m+\frac{I}{R^{2}}}

T is the acceleration in the system

Substitute the value of a in equation (2)

T = \frac{I}{R^{2}}\times \frac{mg}{m+\frac{I}{R^{2}}}

T=\frac{I\times mg}{I+mR^{2}}

This is the tension in the string.

While accelerating at 5.22 m/s/s an object changes its velocity from 6.73 m/s to 29.88 m/s. Over what
yan [13]

Answer:

Explanation:

v² = u² + 2as

s = (v² - u²) / 2a

s = (29.88² - 6.73²) / (2(5.22))

s = 81.1802203065...

s = 81.18 m

Light passes through a pair of very thin parallel slits. The resulting interference pattern is viewed far from the slits at vari
butalik [34]

Answer:

Intensity of the next bright fringe will remain same.

Explanation:

The question is based on Young's double slit experiment, since its about bright fringe, the interference here is constructive.

Young's condition for constructive interference is given by:

dsin\theta = n\lambda

where,

d = slits distance from eachother or width of the slits

\lambda = wavelength

n = interferance order

Also, we know that in Young's experiment, the fringe intensity is given by:

I' = 4Icos^{2}\phi

where,

\phi = phase difference

Therefore, in absence of phase difference i.e., \phi = 0, the intensity of the next bright fringe will not change and it will remain same.

The load across a 12 V battery consists of a series combination of three resistors 34 Ω, 42Ω, and 30Ω. What is the total resista
stira [4]

Answer:

The total resistance is 106 Ω and the current in the circuit is 0.11 A.

Explanation:

Given that,

Voltage of the battery, V = 12 V

Resistors 34 Ω, 42Ω, and 30Ω are connected in series.

The total resistance is given by :}

R = 34 + 42 +30

= 106Ω

Let I is the total current in the circuit. Using ohm's law to find it such that,

I=\dfrac{V}{R}\\\\I=\dfrac{12}{106}\\\\I=0.11\ A

Hence, the total resistance is 106 Ω and the current in the circuit is 0.11 A.
