Explanation:

The asteroid belt is similar to the inner planets, since it consists mainly of rock and metal. Therefore, they come from the protosolar nebula. The planets in formation attracted the asteroids that were under their gravitational influence, except Mars and Jupiter.

How do you rationalize the tension being used in Tennis Racket strings using the concept of impulse and momentum?
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

The momentum, ΔP, and therefore, kinetic energy given to the ball in a serve is the result of the product of the tension force, 'F', in the string and the time of contact, Δt, between the ball and the string

ΔP = F × Δt

Explanation:

The impulse, ΔP, is the produce of the force, 'F', applied to a body for a given period of time, Δt', that gives motion to the body, and it is equal to the change of momentum of the body

ΔP = F × Δt

The momentum, 'P', of a body is the product of the mass, 'm', of the body and its velocity, 'v'

P = m × v

Tension is the axial pulling force of a string

T = Axial Force, F_{axial}

The tension used in Tennis Racket strings is between 40 to 65 lbs.

When high tension is used in the string, the string is taut, and the contact duration between the Racket string and the ball is minimal, and the player needs to use more force to obtain a high momentum, and therefore, energy in the ball, which reduces control, and increase stress, as force is more emphasized

When low tension is used in the string, the Tennis Racket strings are more elastic. During a serve, the ball pushes the strings further back into the racket, such that the ball spends more time in contact with the string, (Δt is larger), and therefore, the impulse, F·Δt = ΔP, given to the ball is larger, therefore, the ball has a larger change in momentum, and therefore more energy in the intended direction.

However, a very slackened string will increase the increase area and time (large Δt) of contact of the ball and the racket such that the force given to the ball, F = ΔP/(large Δt) is reduced and therefore reduce the likelihood of gaining points from a serve against an opponent with a much forceful return of a serve.

Sound waves are longitudinal waves that can travel through air. Would you expect sound waves to travel faster through a low-dens
Serjik [45]

Answer:

Sound waves travel faster in a low-density gas

Explanation:

First of all, let's remind that sound waves are pressure waves: they consist of oscillations of the particles in a medium, which oscillate back and forth along the direction of motion of the wave (longitudinal wave).

The speed of sound in an ideal gas is given by the equation

v=\sqrt{\gamma \frac{p}{\rho}}

where

\gamma is the adiabatic index of the gas

p is the gas pressure

\rho is the gas density

From the equation, we see that the speed of sound is inversely proportional to the square root of the density: therefore, the lower the density, the faster the sound waves.

So, sound waves will travel faster in a low-density gas.

A child is swinging back and forth on a swing. Changes in her kinetic and potential energy are happening each moment. At which p
mina [271]

Answer:

When the person has swung all the way back (position A), the swing pauses a moment. ... As the swing continues forward, it gradually slows down. Its kinetic energy changes back to potential energy until it reaches the farthest point in its arc (position C).

A. Protons and neutrons make up the nucleus of an atom. Write 3 - 4 sentences describing the electrostatic force between each pa
Vladimir [108]

a) Proton-proton: high repulsive electrostatic, very high attractive nuclear force. Proton-neutron: no electrostatic forces since neutrons are not charge carriers, high attractive nuclear force. Neutron-neutron: no electrostatic force for the same reason and huge attractive nuclear force.

b) There are two types of forces in the nuclei: repulsive electrostatic and attractive nuclear. Nuclear act between all nucleons, electrostatic only between protons. To make a nucleus stronger, increase number of attractive forces by increasing amount of neutrons.

c) Cause due to equivalence between mass and energy E=mc^2 change in energy (which happens in nuclear reaction) causes on change in mass. Starting mass just converts to energy, that's why it's greater than the ending mass.
