In the natural scheme of things, positive and negative charge produces an attractive force that pulls one particle towards the other. However, based on Rutherford's model of an atom, which is the planetary model that conclusively suggests that electrons revolve around the nucleus, such attraction between the two opposing particles creates an electromagnetic force that enables electrons to move around the positive nucleus thus preventing the electrons from spiraling towards it.
