A satellite is circling the moon (radius 1700 km) close to the surface at a speed v. A projectile is launched vertically up from

the moon's surface at the same initial speed v.
How high will the projectile rise? (Take m and M as the masses of the satellite and the moon, respectively.)

Answer:

Rmax = 3.4 10⁶ m

Explanation:

For this exercise we will use the concept of energy

Initial. On the surface of the luma

    Em₀ = K + U

    Em₀ = ½ m v² - G m M / R_moon

Final. At the furthest point

    Emf = U

    Emf = - g m M / R_max

    Em₀ = Emf

    ½ m v² - G m M / R_moon = - G m M / R_max

    ½ v² + G M (-1 / R_moon + 1 / R_max) = 0           (1)

Let's use the fact that tells us that the speed of the rocket is equal to the speed of a satellite that rotates around the moon near the surface, let's use Newton's second law

        F = m a

Acceleration is centripetal

       a = v² / r

        r= R_moon

       G m M / R_moon² = m v² / R_mon

        G M / R_moon = v²

We substitute in 1

     ½ G M / R_moon + G M (1 / R_max - 1 / R_moon) = 0

    1 / R_max = 1 / R_moon (1- ½)

     R_max = R_moon 2

     Rmax = 2 1700 103

     Rmax = 3.4 10⁶ m

The current in a series circuit is 19.3 A. When an additional 7.40-Ω resistor is inserted in series, the current drops to 13.4 A
Bogdan [553]

Answer:

16.8ohms

Explanation:

According to ohm's law which states that the current passing through a metallic conductor at constant temperature is directly proportional to the potential difference across its ends.

Mathematically, V = IRt where;

V is the voltage across the circuit

I is the current

R is the effective resistance

For a series connected circuit, same current but different voltage flows through the resistors.

If the initial current in a circuit is 19.3A,

V = 19.3R... (1)

When additional resistance of 7.4-Ω is added and current drops to 13.4A, our voltage in the circuit becomes;

V = 13.4(7.4+R)... (2)

Note that the initial resistance is added to the additional resistance because they are connected in series.

Equating the two value of the voltages i.e equation 1 and 2 to get the resistance in the original circuit we will have;

19.3R = 13.4(7.4+R)

19.3R = 99.16+13.4R

19.3R-13.4R = 99.16

5.9R = 99.16

R= 99.16/5.9

R = 16.8ohms

The resistance in the original circuit will be 16.8ohms

Which statement accurately describes something that Yolanda can do as a part of her study?
Vikki [24]
Thank you for posting your question here at brainly. Below is Yoland's study:

Yolanda is studying two waves. The first wave has an amplitude of 2 m, and the second has an amplitude of 3 m.

I think the answer is "She can use constructive interference to generate a wave with an amplitude of 1.5 m."

What is the maximum weight a boat can hold if a boat can displace 60.5ml?
Valentin [98]

Answer:

a. 60.5 kg

Explanation:

Given data,

The maximum water a boat can displace is, 60.5 ml

According to the principle of buoyancy, the weight of the floating body is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced.

Under standard temperature and pressure, a unit mass of water equals one liter.

If a boat can displace a maximum of 60.5 ml of water, then it can hold a mass of a maximum of 60.5 kg of mass.

State the methods of nuclear fission waste disposal and the suitability of each method.
Alexeev081 [22]
Most low-level radioactive waste (LLW) is typically sent to land-based disposal immediately following its packaging for long-term management. This means that for the majority (~90% by volume) of all of the waste types produced by nuclear technologies, a satisfactory disposal means has been developed and is being implemented around the world.

Radioactive wastes are stored so as to avoid any chance of radiation exposure to people, or any pollution.The radioactivity of the wastes decays with time, providing a strong incentive to store high-level waste for about 50 years before disposal.Disposal of low-level waste is straightforward and can be undertaken safely almost anywhere.Storage of used fuel is normally under water for at least five years and then often in dry storage.Deep geological disposal is widely agreed to be the best solution for final disposal of the most radioactive waste produced.
