Write the equation for g(x).

Mathematics

5 0

Answer:

g(x) = 5x^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem may seem tricky at first, but after you understand the basic concepts about vertical stretches and vertical shrinks, this problem will become much simpler. Additionally, if you use the online tool: DESMOS, you will be able visualize things better.

First, you may notice the graph is more narrow than the original "f(x)" graph. This means that the g(x) graph is a vertical shrink. A vertical shrink can be achieved by adding a whole-number as a coefficient to the "x^{2} \\" formula. Adding a coefficient of "5" would result in coordinates like (1,5), just like adding a coefficient of "2" for example would result in coordinates like (1,2).

(x – 2)^2 + 20 = 0
seraphim [82]

Answer:

x = 2  ± 2 sqrt(5)i

Step-by-step explanation:

(x – 2)^2 + 20 = 0

Subtract 20 from each side

(x – 2)^2 + 20 -20=0 -20

(x – 2)^2 =- 20

Take the square root of each side

sqrt((x – 2)^2) =±sqrt(- 20)

x-2  = ±sqrt(- 20)

We know sqrt(ab) = sqrt(a) sqrt(b)

x-2  = ±sqrt(- 1) sqrt(20)

We know the sqrt (-1) = i

x-2  = ±i sqrt(4*5)

x-2 = ±i sqrt(4) sqrt(5)

Add 2 to each side

x-2+2 = 2 ±i sqrt(4) sqrt(5)

x = 2 ±i 2 sqrt(5)

x = 2  ± 2 sqrt(5)i

Monica [59]
To find the m(slope) of our graph we can take two points from the graph, im going to use (0,2) and (1,8) the formula for slope is y2-y1/x2-x1
Plug the points in to get 8-2/1-0
The slope of this equation is 6.

For the y-intercept we just find where the line meets the y-axis and that is at 2.

The equation for this graph is y=6x+2

I have 8 boxes of chocolate i eat 3 chocolates from each box i now have 72 chocolates in total
nydimaria [60]

Answer: there were 12 chocolates in each box. (Originally, before any got eaten)

Step-by-step explanation: let x represent the total amount of chocolates in each box.

8x - 3(8) = 72

8x - 24 = 72 add 24 to both sides

8x = 96 divide both sides by 8

X = 12
