Given two vectors, one 8 units in length the other 3 units in length, explain why the maximum resultant of the two is a single v

ector 11 units in length and the minimum resultant of the two is a single vector 5 units in length.

Here two vectors are given of lengths

\vec l_1 = 8 units

\vec l_2 = 3 units

now let say the two vectors are inclined at some angle with each other

so the resultant is given as

R = \sqrt{l_1^2 + l_2^2 + 2l_1 l_2 cos\theta}

now plug in all values

R = \sqrt{8^2 + 3^2 + 2(8)(3)cos\theta}

Now for maximum resultant the angle between two vectors must be ZERO degree

R_{max} = \sqrt{8^2 + 3^2 + 2(8)(3)} = 11 units

Now for minimum resultant the angle between two vectors must be 180 degree

R_{max} = \sqrt{8^2 + 3^2 - 2(8)(3)} = 5 units

If Hubble's constant is 73 km/s/Mpc then the age of the universe is 13.4 billion years, assuming a uniform expansion. Suppose it
ki77a [65]

Answer:

It would decrease the calculated age of the universe

Explanation:

Since the age of the universe is the reciprocal of Hubble's constant, it's therefore if Hubble's constant is increased the age decreases but if the Hubble's constant is decreased, the age of universe increases. Therefore, the age of universe and Hubble's constant are inversely proportional. Conclusively, any attempt to increase Hubble's constant would imply the calculated age of the universe decreases.

What mass of ice (in g) can be melted if 27.2 kJ of thermal energy are added at the freezing point? Use molar mass = 18.02 g/mol
san4es73 [151]

Answer : The mass of ice melted can be, 3.98 grams.

Explanation :

First we have to calculate the moles of ice.

Q=\frac{\Delta H}{n}

where,

Q = energy absorbed = 27.2 kJ

\Delta H = enthalpy of fusion of ice = 6.01 kJ/mol

n = moles = ?

Now put all the given values in the above expression, we get:

27.2kJ=\frac{6.01kJ/mol}{n}

n=0.221mol

Now we have to calculate the mass of ice.

\text{Mass of ice}=\text{Moles of ice}\times \text{Molar mass of ice}

Molar mass of ice = 18.02 g/mol

\text{Mass of ice}=0.221mol\times 18.02g/mol=3.98g

Thus, the mass of ice melted can be, 3.98 grams.
