Christmas lights are often designed with a series circuit. This means that when one light burns out, the entire string of lights

goes black. Suppose the lights are designed so that the probability a bulb will last 2 years is 0.995. The success or failure of a bulb is independent of the success or failure of the other bulbs.A) What is the probability that in a string of 100 lights all 100 will last 2 years?B) What is the probability at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years?

Answer:

a) The probability that in a string of 100 lights all 100 will last 2 years is 0.6058 (60.58%).

b) The probability at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years is 0.3942 (39.423%)

Step-by-step explanation:

a) We know that the probability of one bulb will last 2 years is 0.995. As the success or failure of a bulb is independent of the success or failure of the other bulbs, the probability of 100 bulbs is equal to the multiplication of each probability of each bulb (Multiplication Rule).

P(100 bulbs will last 2 years)=(0.995)^{100}=0.6058

Hence, the probability that in a string of 100 lights all 100 will last 2 years is 0.6058 or 60.58%.

b) When we say the probability at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years, is equal to the contrary event of 100 bulbs will last 2 years. (one or more bulbs will burn out)

P(at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years)= 1-P(100 bulbs will last 2 years)

P(at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years)= 1-0.6058= 0.3942

Hence, the probability at least one bulb will burn out in 2 years is 0.3942 or 39.423%.

How many three-digit positive integers have three different digits and at least one prime digit?
Blababa [14]

The number of three-digit positive integers that have three different digits and at least one prime digit are 7960.

The only two components in prime numbers are 1 and the number itself.

Any whole number greater than one is a prime number.

It has exactly two factors—1 and the actual number.

There is just one 2-digit even prime number.

Every pair of prime numbers is always a co-prime.

The product of prime numbers can be used to represent any number.

Three-digit positive integers that have three different digits and at least one prime digit = 3!*4!*10*9 = 7960

juin [17]
The unit rate is the slope

y=mx+b

m=slope

b=y intercept

equation is y=7x

slope=7

y intercept=0

slope=unit rate because if you use 5 gasoline then you go 5 times 7 miles or 35 miles

The unit rate is 7

A diagonal connects a vertex to another vertex without being a side of the polygon. There are 14 vertices in a 14-gon. This leaves 13 vertices left to connect to (since we cannot connect the vertex to itself). However, two of these vertices will form the sides of the 14-gon. This leaves us with 11 possible diagonals we can draw.
