A parallel plate capacitor with air between the plates has a potential difference of 71.0 V. Determine the potential difference
Gwar [14]

Answer:

15.8 V

Explanation:

The relationship between capacitance and potential difference across a capacitor is:

q=CV

where

q is the charge stored on the capacitor

C is the capacitance

V is the potential difference

Here we call C and V the initial capacitance and potential difference across the capacitor, so that the initial charge stored is q.

Later, a dielectric material is inserted between the two plates, so the capacitance changes according to

C'=kC

where k is the dielectric constant of the material. As a result, the potential difference will change (V'). Since the charge stored by the capacitor remains constant,

q=C'V'

So we can combine the two equations:

CV=CV'\\CV=(kC)V'\\V'=\frac{V}{k}

and since we have

V = 71.0 V

k = 4.50

We find the new potential difference:

V'=\frac{71.0}{4.50}=15.8 V

A 50 Q resistor in a circuit has a current flowing through it of 2.0 A. What is
Alex17521 [72]

Hello!

We can use the following equation for calculating power dissipated by a resistor:
P = i^2R

P = Power (? W)
i = Current through resistor (2.0 A)
R = Resistance of resistor (50Ω)

Plug in the known values and solve.

P = (2.0^2)(50) = \boxed{\text{ B. }200 W}

In the park, there are 25 pigeons, 15 squirrels, 5 rabbits, and 5 stray cats. Why
Debora [2.8K]

Answer: Line graph should be used to show how one variable changes over time not to show multiple categories or variables are at one specific point in time.

Explanation:

In maths, statistics, and related fields, graphs are used to visually display variables and their values. In the case of line graphs, these are mainly used to display evolution or change of a variable over time. For example, a line graph can show how the number of divorces changed from 1920 to 2010.

In this context, the number of different animals in the park cannot be represented through a line graph because this situation does not imply a variable changing over time. Moreover, this situation includes multiple variables or categories of animals and the data shows only one specific point in time, which can be better represented through a bar graph.

Alec says the force of gravity is stronger on a piece of paper after it’s crumpled. His classmate, Jordan, disagrees. Alec “prov
Anika [276]
No, gravity acts equally on all objects. The crumpled paper falls faster because it resists the drag force due to the atmosphere because of its compact size. A flat piece of paper has an extended body and "catches" the air and falls more slowly. In a vacuum they would fall at the same rate either way.

5.An ice skater pushes against a wall with a force of 59 N. Ignoring friction, if the ice skater has
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

Answer: (A) 0.75 m/s^2

Explanation:

The Second Newton's law states that an object acquires acceleration when an external unbalanced net force is applied to it.

That acceleration is proportional to the net force and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.

It can be expressed with the formula:

\displaystyle a=\frac{F_n}{m}

Where

Fn = Net force

m = mass

The ice skater pushes against a wall with a force of 59 N. The wall returns the force and the skater now has a net force of Fn=59 N that makes him accelerate. Being m=79 kg the mass of the skater, the acceleration is:

\displaystyle a=\frac{59}{79}

a = 0.75\ m/s^2

Answer: (A) 0.75 m/s^2
