The volume of a weather balloon is 200.0 L and its internal pressure is 1.17 atm when it is launched at 20 °C. The balloon rises

to an altitude in the stratosphere where its internal pressure is 63 mmHg and the temperature is 210 K. What is the volume (in L) of the balloon then?

Answer:

2022 L

Explanation:

Ideal gas laws will work for gas in the balloon

The general gas law is for a gas at two arbitrary states 1 and 2 is given by

(P₁ V₁)/T₁ = (P₂ V₂)/T₂

P₁ = 1.17 atm

V₁ = 200.0 L

T₁ = 20°C = 293.15 K

P₂ = 63 mmHg = 0.0829 atm

V₂ = ?

T₂ = 210 K

(1.17 × 200)/293.15 = (0.0829 × V₂)/210

V₂ = (210 × 1.17 × 200)/(293.15 × 0.0829)

V₂ = 2022 L

Binary ionic and binary molecular compounds have what two things that are similar in their composition
Sonbull [250]
Best Answer: Ionic binary compounds -- contain a metal cation and an anion made of a nonmetal or a polyatomic anion. Consider calcium phosphate:
Ca = 2+ (Group IIA)
PO4 = 3- (phosphate)
The lowest common multiple of 2+ and 3- is 6. You must have 3 Ca2+ to make +6; you must have 2 PO43- to make -6. The sum of the positive and negative charges must be equal in a compound because they are electrically neutral.
Ca3(PO4)2 -- calcium phosphate

Binary molecular compounds -- contain two or more nonmetals bonded covalently. There are no ions present because the atoms share electrons. Prefixes are used to indicate the number of atoms of each kind present. Examples are:
SO2 -- sulfur dioxide
N2O4 -- dinitrogen tetraoxide
PCl3 -- phosphorous trichloride
CO -- carbon monoxide

The general formula for an acid is HX, where X is an anion. Binary acids contain H and a nonmetal and are named with the prefix "hydro" and the suffix "ic". Examples are:
HCl -- hydrochloric acid
H2S -- hydrosulfuric acid
HF -- hydrofluoric acid
Ternary acids contain H and a polyatomic anion. Examples are:
H2SO4 -- sulfuric acid
HNO3 -- nitric acid
HNO2 -- nitrous acid
HClO3 -- chloric acid
HClO2 -- chlorous acid
HClO -- hypochlorous acid
The names of the anions are changed as follows:
-ate anions form -ic acids
-ite anions form -ous acids
per...ate anions form per...ic acids
hypo...ite anions form hypo...ous acids.

What is one takeaway you have about future sea levels rising ?
Galina-37 [17]

Answer:

Our world will never be the same. Our beaches will be submerged, many towns, cities, states, and even countries will be partially if not completely submerged. All these human cities being flooded will kill thousands of people, pollute the ocean, and lose billions of dollars.

three students made multiple weighings of a copper cylinder each using a different balance. Describe the accuracy and precision
ch4aika [34]
I think that you have put up an incomplete question. However, i am answering the question based on my research and knowledge.

Lissa- accuracy and precision are both low
Lamont- accuracy and precision are definitely high
Leigh Anne- accuracy is low but precision is definitely high.

One isotope of oxygen differs from another isotope of oxygen in *
Reptile [31]

Each isotope of Oxygen has a different number of neutrons

Further explanation

The elements in nature have several types of isotopes

Atomic mass is the average atomic mass of all its isotopes

Isotopes are atoms has the same number of protons but has a different number of neutrons.

So Isotopes are elements that have the same Atomic Number (Proton)

Some of the isotopes of oxygen are:

\tt _8^{16}O,_8^{17}O,_8^{18}O

Each isotope has 8 protons and 8 electrons but has a different number of neutrons

For O-16: number of neutrons = 16-8 = 8

For O-17: number of neutrons = 17-8 = 9

For O-18: number of neutrons = 18-8 = 10

You have 1 mole of a gas at STP. If you apply the ideal gas law what is the approximate volume of the gas?
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

A) 22.4L

Explanation:

we know, ideal gas law states

PV=nRT

V=nRT/P

At STP,

T= 273.15K     P=1atm         R=0.082L.atm/mol/K          n=1 mole

V=(1*0.082*273.15)/ 1

V=22.4L
