-y = 3/2x + 4

To get the slope and y-intercept, your equation first needs to be in the slope-intercept form, y=mx+b.

All you have to do is get rid of the -1 in front of y. Do this by dividing both sides by -1.

y = -3/2x - 4

slope = -3/2
y-intercept = -4

The two horizontal lines are parallel ( This is given by the red triangles)

Because the lines are parallel, the two angles 1 & 2 would be the same.

Set the two equations for the angle to equal each other and solve:

8y-6 = 7y

Add 6 to each side:

8y = 7y+6

Subtract 7y from each side:

y = 6

Now you have the value for y, solve for angle 2 by replacing y with 6:

Angle 2 = 7y = 7(6) = 42 degrees.

An odometer in a car is broken and only registers 6 miles when the car has traveled 7 miles. If the odometer registers 1137 mile
miv72 [106K]
I'm not sure if this is a trick question but, if I was to assume my answer would be 1136. If it is a trick question, if the odometer only registers 6 miles then it'd either be 189.5m or 6 miles because it only registers 6 miles so it wouldn't change.

Find the sum of the first five terms of the geometric sequence: - 1, - 6, - 36
irakobra [83]

The sum of the first five terms of the geometric sequence is -1555

<h3>Sum of geometric sequence</h3>

The formula for calculating the sum of geometric sequence is expressed as:

S_n=\frac{a(r^n-1)}{r-1}

where

r is the common ratio = 6/1 = 6

a is the first term = -1

n = 5 (number of terms)

Substitute

S_5=\frac{-1(6^5-1)}{6-1}\\S_5=\frac{-7776+1}{5}\\S_5=-1555

Hence the sum of the first five terms of the geometric sequence is -1555
