Answer:

3.5 * 10^6

Explanation:

Hydrogen peroxide is a harmful chemical which is broken down into oxygen and water by the catalase enzyme. The oxygen gas is released in to the air for next two minutes till reaches a steady rate and hence decrease further in an hour.

The speed with which a catalase decompose hydrogen peroxide is 3.5 * 10^6 times per second

In absence of catalase, H2O2 will be decomposed at a rate slower by 3.5 * 10^6 times

It will take 1,000,000 times slower for Hydrogen Peroxide to decompose

Hydrogen peroxide is a toxic compound that usually destroys cell membrane. Also, it is a byproduct of metabolism that must be broken down quickly because it can cause damage to the cells. Moreover, catalase is an enzyme that is found in almost all the living organism and function by catalysing the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. However, the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is very slow and cannot sustain human life in the absence of catalase.

babunello [35]

Answer:

Straight line path.

Explanation:

Speed is the rate at which an object covers a particular distance. According to the question, the object was moving with constant speed, there is no change in the direction as well, This imply that the object is moving with constant velocity. No external forces applied on the object. Therefore the object is moving on a straight line path.

charle [14.2K]

Answer:

1. 39 J; 2. 3.9 % usable; 3. 96.1 % unusable

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Available energy

Energy consumed = 1000 J

Less waste = - 177 J

Less respiration = -784 J

Total energy lost = -961 J

Available energy = 39 J

2. Percent of total energy usable

The chipmunk could use only 39 J of the original 1000 J.

% of energy usable = 39 J/1000 J × 100 % = 3.9 %

3. Percent of energy unusable

The chipmunk lost 961 J of the original 1000 J.

% of energy unusable = 961 J/1000 J × 100 % = 96.1 %
