Who are two target audiences for the passage "Gluten Free"?

a) people interested in weight loss.

b) doctors who treat people with celiac disease.

c) people who educate others about health decisions.

d) people with gluten sensitivity.

e) people considering making a lifestyle change

Passage: Gluten Free

Many people consider products made from whole grains, such as bread and cereal, to be delicious as well as nutritious. However, gluten allergies are on the rise, and many people can

no longer eat these types of food. Gluten is a type of protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. This substance can also be found in sauces, soups, and salad dressings. The widespread

use of gluten can make it difficult to know which foods are safe for people with gluten allergies. Allergic responses to gluten can range from stomach aches to acne, and they can even cause more serious health issues in some individuals. A serious allergy to gluten is called celiac disease. In the United States, millions of people suffer from this disorder. Celiac is a digestive

disease that hinders people from properly absorbing nutrients from food. This disease can lead to various health issues, so people with these allergies need to be careful about the food.

Eating in restaurants can be difficult for people with celiac disease. However, there are things people can do to ensure that their food is safe. For example, calling ahead to see if the

restaurant has a gluten-free menu is a start. Even when at the restaurant, people should not be afraid to ask the server or they eat.

Answer:

d) people with gluten sensitivity

e) people considering making a lifestyle change

Explanation:

Gluten can be defined as protein that is found is starchy grains such as wheat, rye, barley e.t.c.

One of the main or major functions of gluten is when wheat is used to make dough for bread, pasta, pizza e.t.c , the stretching or elasticity of the dough is due to the presence of gluten in the dough.

Despite these desirable quality, it has been discovered the people are allergic to gluten and these days we have gluten free foods or restaurant that served gluten free foods such as bakes, cakes e.t.c.

One of the allergies of gluten is called Celiac disease. Celiac disease is an allergy that makes it difficult for the human body to be able to digest gluten as well absorbing other food nutrients. This results in symptoms such as flatulence, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, weight loss e.t.c.

We have been educated in the passage that although it quite difficult for people with Celiac disease to eat at restaurants, but in other to effectively manage the allergy, when you want to eat out, it is best to call the restaurant first to verify if they have gluten free meals or ask the waiter if they have gluten free meals.

The two target audience for the above passage in the question titled "Gluten Free" are:

d) people with gluten sensitivity

e) people considering making a lifestyle change

bazaltina [42]

Answer:

4.2 x 10⁷N

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Charge on ball:

             q₁  = 3C

              q₂ = 14C

Distance between balls  = 9000m

Unknown:

Force acting on the two balls

Solution:

The force experienced by the two charges is given by coulombs law. It is mathematically expressed as;

                      F  = \frac{k q_{1} q_{2} }{r^{2} }

where k  = 9 x 10⁹Nm²/C²

           q is the charges

             r is the distance

Input the variables and solve;

        F  = \frac{9 x 10^{9} x 3 x 14 }{9000}  = 4.2 x 10⁷N

A block of gelatin is 120 mm by 120 mm by 40 mm when unstressed.
ycow [4]

Answer:

σ = 3.402 KPa ,  γ = 0.25 , G = 13.608 KPa

Explanation:

Given:-

- The dimension of gelatin block = ( 120 x 120 x 40 ) mm

- The applied force, F = 49 N

- The displacement of upper surface, x = 10 mm

Find:-

Find the shearing stress, shearing strain and  shear modulus.

Solution:-

- The shear stress is the internal pressure created in an object opposing the applied action ( Force, moment, bending, or torque ).

- A force of F = 49 N was applied parallel to the top surface of the gelatin block.

- The shear effect results in a stress in the gelatin block.

- The formulation of stress ( σ ) is given below:

                        σ = F / A

Where,

           A : The surface area of the object that experiences the shear force.

- The top surface have the following dimensions:

          A = ( 0.120 )*( 0.120 ) = 0.0144 m^2

Therefore,

                     σ = 49 / 0.0144

                     σ = 3.402 KPa

- The shear strain ( γ ) is the measurement of change in dimension per unit depth of the block.

- The top surface undergoes a displacement of ( x ). The height of the top surface of the gelatin block is L = 40 mm.

Hence,

                    γ = x / L

                    γ = 10 / 40

                    γ = 0.25

- The shear modulus or the modulus of rigidity ( G ) is a material intrinsic property that signifies the amount of resistive stress to any cause of deformation.

- It is mathematically expressed as a ratio of shear stress  ( σ ) and shear strain ( γ ):

                   G =  σ / γ

                   G = 3.402 / 0.25

                   G = 13.608 KPa
