As a system expands, it absorbs 52.5 J of energy in the form of heat from the surroundings. The piston is working against a pres

Answer:

Vi = 0.055 m³ = 55 L

Explanation:

From first Law of Thermodynamics, we know that:

ΔQ = ΔU + W

where,

ΔQ = Heat absorbed by the system = 52.5 J

ΔU = Change in Internal Energy = -102.5 J (negative sign shows decrease in internal energy of the system)

W = Work Done in Expansion by the system = ?

Therefore,

52.5 J = - 102.5 J + W

W = 52.5 J + 102.5 J

W = 155 J

Now, the work done in a constant pressure condition is given by:

W = PΔV

W = P(Vf - Vi)

where,

P = Constant Pressure = (0.5 atm)(101325 Pa/1 atm) = 50662.5 Pa

Vf = Final Volume of System = (58 L)(0.001 m³/1 L) = 0.058 m³

Vi = Initial Volume of System = ?

Therefore,

155 J = (50662.5 Pa)(0.058 m³ - Vi)

Vi = 0.058 m³ - 155 J/50662.5 Pa

Vi = 0.058 m³ - 0.003 m³

Vi = 0.055 m³ = 55 L

Fofino [41]

Answer:

Note that the emf induced is

emf = B d v cos (A)

---> v = emf / [B d cos (A)]

where

B = magnetic field

d = distance of two rails

v = constant speed

A = angle of rails with respect to the horizontal

Also, note that

I = emf/R

where R = resistance of the bar

Thus,

I = B d v cos (A) / R

Thus, the bar experiences a magnetic force of

F(B) = B I d = B^2 d^2 v cos (A) / R, horizontally, up the incline.

Thus, the component of this parallel to the incline is

F(B //) = F(B) cos(A) = B I d = B^2 d^2 v cos^2 (A) / R

As this is equal to the component of the weight parallel to the incline,

B^2 d^2 v cos^2 (A) / R = m g sin (A)

where m = the mass of the bar.

Solving for v,

v = [R m g sin (A) / B^2 d^2 cos^2 (A)] [ANSWER, the constant speed, PART A]

******************************

v = [R m g sin (A) / B^2 d^2 cos^2 (A)]

Plugging in the units,

m/s = [ [ohm * kg * m/s^2] / [T^2 m^2] ]

Note that T = kg / (s * C), and ohm = J * s/C^2

Thus,

m/s = [ [J * s/C^2 * kg * m/s^2] / [(kg / (s * C))^2 m^2] ]

= [ [J * s/C^2 * kg * m/s^2] / [(kg^2 m^2) / (s^2 C^2)]

As J = kg*m^2/s^2, cancelling C^2,,

= [ [kg*m^2/s^2 * s * kg * m/s^2] / [(kg^2 m^2) / (s^2)]

Cancelling kg^2,

= [ [m^2/s^2 * s * m/s^2] / [(m^2) / (s^2)]

Cancelling m^2/s^2,

= [s * m/s^2]

Cancelling s,

=m/s [DONE! WE SHOWED THE UNITS ARE CORRECT! ]

The tire above has a recommended tire pressure of 35 PSI, however, its current pressure is only 26 PSI. Which of the following c
Dima020 [189]

Answer:

option B

Explanation:

It is given that in the tire the recommended pressure is 35 PSI however the current pressure is only 26 PSI which means that pressure in the tire is less than the recommended so the chances of blowout of the tire gets eliminated hence option A is not correct.

Having pressure less in the tire can lead to the Unstable handling of the vehicle.

so correct answer is option B
