Let r be the lesser root and r^2 be the greater.......the sum of the roots   = -b/a  = -[-6] / 1  = 6

So we have that

r^2 + r  = 6     →    r^2 + r - 6 = 0

Factor

(r + 3) (r - 2)   = 0

So r = -3    or   r = 2

Then r^2  = 9     or r^2  =4

And the product of the roots =  c/a   =  k/a  = k

So....k =   (-3)(9)   = -27     or k = (2)(4)  = 8

Check

x^2 - 6x - 27  = 0      factors as  (x + 3)(x - 9) = 0     and  the roots are -3 and 9

x^2 - 6x + 8  = 0      factors as (x -2) (x - 4) =0      and the roots are 2 and 4

15. Simplify sin(90° - O) cos 0 - sin(180° +0) sin e.
dalvyx [7]

Answer:  cos²(θ) + sin(θ)sin(e)

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

sin (90° - θ)cos(Ф) - sin(180° + θ) sin(e)

Note the following identities:

sin (90° - θ) = cos(x)

sin (180° + θ) = -sin(x)

Substitute those identities into the expression:

   cos(x)cos(x)  -  -sin(x)sin(e)

=  cos²(x) + sin(x)sin(e)

BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}9\\10\\\end{array}\right]

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the components of A by 3 then add corresponding components of

3a + b

3\left[\begin{array}{ccc}2\\4\\\end{array}\right] + \left[\begin{array}{ccc}3\\-2\\\end{array}\right]

= \left[\begin{array}{ccc}6\\12\\\end{array}\right] + \left[\begin{array}{ccc}3\\-2\\\end{array}\right]

= \left[\begin{array}{ccc}6+3\\12-2\\\end{array}\right]

= \left[\begin{array}{ccc}9\\10\\\end{array}\right]

What is the value of x so that the ordered pair (x, 1) is a solution to the equation 3x - y = 17 ? A. B.6 C.14 D.20
Alexxx [7]
Its B.6 because when you plug in 1 for y the equation is 3x-1=17 and you have to cancel out y to get 3x=18 by itself because you have to add 1 to the 17 since you canceled it out of the equation then you are left with 3x=18 and you divide both sides by 3 and then 18 divided by 3 is 6 so x=6
