Answer:

C, 4e^{i(7\pi/4)}

Step-by-step explanation:

To remind you, Euler's formula gives a link between trigonometric and exponential functions in a very profound way:

e^{ix}=\cos{x}+i\sin{x}

Given the complex number 2\sqrt{2}-2i\sqrt{2}, we want to try to get it in the same form as the right side of Euler's formula. As things are, though, we're unable to, and the reason for that has to do with the fact that both the sine and cosine functions are bound between the values 1 and -1, and 2√2 and -2√2 both lie outside that range.

One thing we could try would be to factor out a 2 to reduce both of those terms, giving us the expression 2(\sqrt{2}-i\sqrt{2})

Still no good. √2 and -√2 are still greater than 1 and less than -1 respectively, so we'll have to reduce them a little more. With some clever thinking, you could factor out another 2, giving us the expression 4\left(\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2} -i\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2}\right) , and <em>now </em>we have something to work with.

Looking back at Euler's formula e^{ix}=\cos{x}+i\sin{x}, we can map our expression inside the parentheses to the one on the right side of the formula, giving us \cos{x}=\frac{\sqrt2}{2} and \sin{x}=-\frac{\sqrt2}{2}, or equivalently:

\cos^{-1}{\frac{\sqrt2}{2} }=\sin^{-1}-\frac{\sqrt2}{2} =x

At this point, we can look at the unit circle (attached) to see the angle satisfying these two values for sine and cosine is 7π/4, so x=\frac{7\pi}{4}, and we can finally replace our expression in parentheses with its exponential equivalent:

4\left(\frac{\sqrt2}{2}-i\frac{\sqrt2}{2}\right)=4e^{i(7\pi/4)}

Which is c on the multiple choice section.

A surveyor, Toby, measures the distance between two landmarks and the point where he stands. He also measured the angles between
vagabundo [1.1K]
What we know so far:
Side 1 = 55m
Side 2 = 65m
Angle 1 = 40°
Angle 2 = 30°

What we are looking for:
Toby's Angle = ?
The distance x = ?

We need to look for Toby's angle so that we can solve for the distance x by assuming that the whole figure is a SAS (Side Angle Side) triangle.

Solving for Toby's Angle:
We know for a fact that the sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180°; therefore,
180° - (Side 1 + Side 2) = Toby's Angle
Toby's Angle  = 180° - (40° + 30°)
Toby's Angle = 110°

Since we already have Toby's angle, we can now solve for the distance x by using the law of cosines r² = p²+ q²<span>− 2pq cos R where r is x, p is Side1, q is Side2, and R is Toby's Angle.
</span>
x² = Side1² + Side2² - 2[(Side1)(Side2)] cos(Toby's Angle)
x² = 55² + 65² - 2[(55)(65)] cos(110°)
x² = 3025 + 4225 -7150[cos(110°)]
x² = 7250 - 2445.44
x = √4804.56
x = 69.31m

∴The distance, x, between two landmarks is 69.31m

What is the exact volume of the cylinder? A.) 54pi in3
MatroZZZ [7]

Answer:

Choice D

Step-by-step explanation:

You use the formula V=pi(radius^2)(h). Once you take the pi out and plug in the numbers, you should get V= 6^2(9). You get 324 with the pi added on after it.

What is the slope line that would be parallel to the given line???
Serjik [45]

Slope of a line parallel to given line is equal to slope of given line.

<u>SOLUTION:</u>

Given that, we have to find the slope of any line that is parallel to a line in the co – ordinate plane.

We know that, slope of a line is tan( angle  of a line made between that line and the x – axis)

So, consider two lines which are parallel , then, angles made by both the parallel lines will be equal with the x – axis.

Then, tan( angle by 1st line) = tan( angle by 2nd line)

Which means that, slope of two lines will be equal.

Hence, slope of a line parallel to given is equal to slope of given line.
