A roller coaster car rolls down a frictionless track, reaching speed v at the bottom. a. If you want the car to go twice as fast

at the bottom, by what factor must you increase the height of the track? b. Does your answer to part a depend on whether the track is straight or not? Explain.

Answer:

4

Explanation:

Given that

Track is friction less

As we know that ,the velocity of the particle only depends on the height difference and does not depends on the path is incline or curve .

The final speed(v) of the roller at the bottom given as

From energy conservation

mgh=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2

v=\sqrt{2gh}

If we want to twice the speed ,it means that

v'= 2v

lets take height difference is h'

v'=\sqrt{2gh'}

2v=\sqrt{2gh'}

2\sqrt{2gh}=\sqrt{2gh'}

4 x 2 g h = 2 g h'

So

h'=4 h

The height have to increase by 4 factor.

a radio controlled car rolls 10 m south then reverses direction and rolls 8 m north the car traveled a distance of 18 m and has
EastWind [94]

The displacement is 2 m south

Explanation:

Distance and displacement are two different quantities:

  • Distance is the total length of the path covered by an object during its motion, regardless of the direction. It is a scalar quantity
  • Displacement is a vector connecting the initial position to the final position of motion of an object. The magnitude of the displacement is the distance in a straight line between the two points

For the car in this problem, the motion is:

10 m south

8 m north

Taking north as positive direction, we can describe the two parts of the motion as

d_1 = -10 m

d_2 = +8 m

Therefore,  the final position of the car with respect to the original position is

x_f = -10 + 8 = -2 m

which means 2 m south: so, the displacement of the car is 2 m south.

Answer:

b. Medicine balls

Explanation:

A medicine ball (also called an exercise ball, or a health ball) is a weighted ball about the shoulder diameter (approx. 13.7 inches), often used for recovery and strength training.... In 1705 similar large balls had been used in Persia.So you can use your medicine ball as a projectile to boost the strength of your throws.

A ball is tossed up into the air, reaches its highest point and returns to its original position. which of the following is true
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer: (Projectile motion)

Option A — At its highest point the ball’s velocity is 0 and so it it’s acceleration (0).

This is because at the highest point, the ball’s direction changes. This is due to the forces counteracting the upward momentum (mass*velocity) of the ball, so the ball slows down and when it reaches it highest point starts to change direction and fall back down. In the short period of time at which its at its highest point, it’s velocity reaches 0 for a very short amount of time, and so does its acceleration.
