Define scalar and vector

Physics
1 answer:

The quantity is either a vector or a scalar. These two categories can be distinguished from one another by their distinct definitions: Scalars are quantities that are fully described by a magnitude (or numerical value) alone. Vectors are quantities that are fully described by both a magnitude and a direction.

If the man pushes with a force of 2000N and friction is 500N, what is the resultant force?
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

Explanation:

If the force of 2000 N is directed towards the right and the friction is directed towards the left, the 2000 N force is positive and the other is negative. To find the resultant force:

2000 - 500 = 1500 N to the right

A subway train accelerates from rest at one station at a rate of 1.30 m/s^2 for half of the distance to the next station, then d
Minchanka [31]

This problems a perfect application for this acceleration formula:

         Distance = (1/2) (acceleration) (time)² .

During the speeding-up half:     1,600 meters = (1/2) (1.3 m/s²) T²
During the slowing-down half:    1,600 meters = (1/2) (1.3 m/s²) T²

Pick either half, and divide each side by 0.65 m/s²:

                         T² = (1600 m) / (0.65 m/s²)

                         T = square root of (1600 / 0.65) seconds

Time for the total trip between the stations is double that time.

                         T =  2 √(1600/0.65) = 99.2 seconds  (rounded)

The aeroplane lands at a speed of 80 m/s
strojnjashka [21]

The mass of the aeroplane is 300,000 kg.

What is Newton's second law of motion?

It states that the force F is directly proportional to the acceleration a of the body and its mass.

The law is represented as

F =ma

where acceleration a = velocity change v / time interval t

Given is the aeroplane lands at a speed of 80 m/s. After landing, the aeroplane takes 28 s to decelerate to a speed of 10 m/s. The mean resultant force on the aeroplane as it decelerates is 750 000 N.

The force expression will be

F = mv/t

Substitute the values and we have

750000 = m x  (80 -10)/ 28

750,000 = m x 2.5

m = 300,000 kg

Thus, the mass of the aeroplane is 300,000 kg.
