Lipid forms structures in cells and stores energy

Lipids are group of organic compounds including fats, oils, waxes, sterols, cholesterols, phospholipids and triglycerides. Phospholipids (a double layer of lipids) are the building blocks of cellular membranes. Lipids are also involved in energy storage. Fat molecules can store an excessive amount of energy which can be used later by cells.
