Answer:

The direction is downwards. This answer to this question is found from the applicatikn of flemings right hand rule. This rule uses the thumb, index finger and the middle finger in the direction of current force and the magnetic field.

A 500 W immersion heater is placed in a pot containing 1.00 L of water at 20oC. (a) How long will the water take to rise to the
tatiyna

Answer:

96 s.

Explanation:

(a)

From the question,

Q = cm(t₂-t₁)................... Equation 1

Where Q = heat required to boil the water, c = specific heat capacity of the water, m = mass of the water, t₂ = final temperature of water, t₁ = initial temperature of water

Note: The boiling point of water = 100 °C

Given: c = 4200 J/kg.°C, t₂ = 100 °C, t₁ = 20 °C

mass of water = density×volume

m = D×v, Where D = 1000 kg/m³, v = 1.00 L = 0.001 m³

Hence, m = 1000×0.001 = 1 kg.

Substitute into equation 1

Q = 4200×1(100-20)

Q = 4200×8

Q = 33600 J.

But,

P = Q/t................... Equation 2

make t  the subject of the equation

t = Q/P................. Equation 3

Where P = power, t = time

From the question,

70 % of the available energy is absorbed by water.

P = 0.7×500 = 350 W.

Substitute into equation 2

t = 33600/350

t = 96 s.

A resistor, an inductor, and a switch are all connected in series to an ideal battery of constant terminal voltage. Suppose at f
Airida [17]

Answer:

c. The steady-state value of the current depends on the resistance of the resistor.

Explanation:

Since all the components are connected in series, when the switch is at first open, current will not flow round the circuit. As current needs to flow through from the positive terminal of the battery through the resistor, inductor, and  switch to the negative terminal of the battery.

But the moment the switch is closed, at the initial time t = 0, the current flow through from the positive terminal of the battery through the resistor, inductor, and switch to the negative terminal of the battery. It then begins to increase at a rate that depends upon the value of the inductance of the inductor.

The magnetic flux through a loop:
dexar [7]

Answer:

The magnetic flux through a loop is zero when the B field is perpendicular to the plane of the loop.

Explanation:

Magnetic flux are also known as the magnetic line of force surrounding a bar magnetic in a magnetic field.

It is expressed mathematically as

Φ = B A cos(θ) where

Φ is the magnetic flux

B is the magnetic field strength

A is the area

θ is the angle that the magnetic field make with the plane of the loop

If B is acting perpendicular to the plane of the loop, this means that θ = 90°

Magnetic flux Φ = BA cos90°

Since cos90° = 0

Φ = BA ×0

Φ = 0

This shows that the magnetic flux is zero when the magnetic field strength B is perpendicular to the plane of the loop.
