390 \; \text{K}

Explanation

The rate of a chemical reaction is directly related to its rate constant k if the concentration of all reactants in its rate-determining step is held constant. The rate "constant" is dependent on both the temperature and the activation energy of this particular reaction, as seen in the Arrhenius equation:

k = A \cdot e^{-E_A/( R\cdot T)

where

  • A the frequency factor constant unique to this reaction
  • e the base of natural logarithms, and
  • R the ideal gas constant.

Taking natural logarithms of both sides of the expression yields:

\ln k = \ln A - {E_a}/ ({R \cdot T})

k_2 = 4.50 \; k_1, such that

\ln k_2 = \ln 4.5 + \ln k_1

\ln A- {E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_2}) = \ln k_2 \\\phantom{\ln A-{E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_2})} = \ln 4.5 + \ln k_1\\ \phantom{\ln A- {E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_2})} = \ln 4.5 +\ln A- {E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_1})

Rearranging gives

-{E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_2}) = \ln 4.5- {E_a}/ ({R \cdot T_1})

Given the initial temperature T_1 = 355 \; \text{K} and activation energy E_A = 49.40 \; \text{kJ} \cdot \text{mol}^{-1}- assumed to be independent of temperature variations,

- {49.40 \; \text{kJ} \cdot \text{mol}^{-1}}/ ({8.314 \times 10^{-3} \; \text{kJ} \cdot \text{mol}^{-1} \cdot \text{K}^{-1} \cdot T_2}) \\= \ln 4.5- {49.40 \; \text{kJ} \cdot \text{mol}^{-1}}/ ({355 \; \text{K}\cdot 8.314 \times 10^{-3} \; \text{kJ} \cdot \text{mol}^{-1} \cdot \text{K}^{-1}})

Solve for T_2:

-(8.314 \times 10^{-3}/ 49.40) \; T_2 = 1/ (\ln 4.5 - 49.40 / (355 \times 8.314 \times 10^{-3})

T_2 = 390 \; \text{K}

Given:

Ea(Activationenergy):49.4kJ/molecule

k1: the rate constant of the first reaction

k2 : rate constant of the second reaction.

T2: Temperature of the second reaction.

T1: Temperature of the first reaction.

k2/k1=4.55

Now by Arrhenius equation we get

log(k2/k1)=[Ea/(2.303xR)] x[(1/T1)-(1/T2)]

Where k1 is the rate constant of the first reaction.

k2 is the rate constant of the second equation.

T2 is the temperature of the second reaction measured in K

T1 is the temperature of the first reaction measured in K

Ea is the activation energy kJ/mol

R is the gas constant measured in J/mol.K

Now substituting the given values in the Arrhenius equation we get:

log(k2/k1)=[Ea/(2.303xR)] x[(1/T1)-(1/T2)]

log(4.55)=[Ea/(2.303xR)] x[(1/T1)-(1/T2)]

0.66=[49.4/(2.303x8.314x10^-3)]x[(1/355)-(1/T2)]

0.66= 2579.75x [(1/355)-(1/T2)]

0.000256= (T2-355)/355T2

0.0908T2-T2= -355

0.9092T2=355

T2=390.46K

Write the symbols for the following isotopes: Its atoms contain 50 electrons and 70 neutrons
Veronika [31]
Since this element has 50 electrons you know that it has 50 protons. The number of proton= the atomic number. Atomic number 50 is tin. The atomic symbol for tin is Sn and the weight is 120. So this is the tin 120 isotope

What volume does 2.25g of nitrogen gas, N2, occupy at 273 Celsius and 1.02 atm
kotykmax [81]
<h2><u>Answer:</u></h2>

0.126 Liters

<h2><u>Explanation:</u></h2>

V = mRT / mmP

First, convert the 2.25g of Nitrogen gas into moles. (m in the equation above)

2.25g x 1 mole / 28.0g = 0.08036 moles = m

28.0g = mm

Next, convert the 273 Celsius into Kelvin. (T in the equation above)

273 Celsius + 273.15 = 546.15K = T

R = 0.08206L*atm/mol*K

(Quick Note: The R changes depending on the Pressure Unit so do not use this number every time.)

Now, plug everything into the equation.

V = (0.08036)(0.08206)(546.15)/(28.0)(1.02)

V = 0.126 L

Explain how hydrogen bonding contributes to water's high heat of vaporization
pashok25 [27]

The heat/enthalpy of vaporization of water represents the energy input required to convert one mole of water into vapor at a constant temperature. Intermolecular forces including hydrogen bondings of significant strength hold water molecules in place under its liquid state. Whereas the molecules experience almost no intermolecular interactions under the gaseous state- consider the way noble gases molecules interact. It is thus necessary to supply sufficient energy to overcome all intermolecular interactions present in the substance under its liquid state to convert the substance into a gas. The heat of vaporization is thus related to the strength of the intermolecular interactions.

Water molecules contain hydrogen atoms bonded directly to oxygen atoms. Oxygen atoms are highly electronegative and take major control of electrons in hydrogen-oxygen bonds. Hydrogen atoms in water molecules thus experience a strong partial-positive charge and would attract lone pairs of electron on neighboring water molecules. "Hydrogen bonds" refer to the attraction between hydrogen atoms bonded to electronegative elements and lone pairs of electrons. The hydrogen-oxygen bonds in water molecules are so polarized that hydrogen bonds in water are stronger than both dipole-dipole interactions and London Dispersion Forces in most other molecules. It thus take high amounts of energy to separate water molecules sufficiently apart such that they no longer experience intermolecular interactions and behave collectively like a gas. As a result, water has one of the highest heat of vaporization among covalent molecules of similar sizes.
