Answer:

Deforestation and Cultivation

Explanation:

First I am going to give the <u><em>definition of deforestation:</em></u>

Deforestation is basically the removal of trees.

<u>The removal of trees leaves leaves very little vegetative cover to hold heavy rain fall.</u> This is why mudslides and things happen. When the land is clear and flat, the water keeps on going instead of going into the soil. That water that keeps on going is called <em>runoff water.</em><em> </em>If we planted trees by the rivers, that could take down the height of the floods in towns by 20%

At first I was going to say widening rivers, but that is a way to manage river water. When we lengthen the river, it is so that the water can take more time to reach the river canal.

<u><em>Definition of Cultivation</em></u>: The production of food by preparing the land to grow crops (especially on a large scale) animal husbandry - breeding and caring for farm animals. agriculture, tree farming - the cultivation of tree for the production of timber.

I was also going to say Cultivation. <u>Over-cultivation is the excessive use of farmland to the point where productivity falls due to soil exhaustion or land degradation</u>. Now this is actually why we have floods in the USA. <u>The soil cannot soak up any water, therefore the water over flows and that is when a flood starts to happen.</u>

I know this took some time but hope I could help :)

How many electrons in an atom can have each of the following quantum number or sublevel designations?
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]

Answer: (a) 2 (b) 6 (c) 14

Explanation:

In the Azimuthal quantum number(l) electrons in a particular subshell (such as s, p, d, or f) are defined by values of l (0, 1, 2, or 3).

s is l=0, p is l=1, d is l=2, f is l=3.

The magnetic quantum number (ml)  The value of ml can range from -l to +l, including zero. Thus the s, p, d, and f subshells contain 1, 3, 5, and 7 orbitals each, with values of m within the ranges 0, ±1, ±2, ±3 respectively. Each shell can have 2 x l + 1 sublevels, and each of these sublevel can accommodate up to two electrons.

(a) n=2, l=1, ml=0. If l=1 then 2 x 1+ 1=3 sublevels, 3*2=6 electrons. When l=1, ml =-1,0,+1, ml=0  accommodate two(2)electrons

(b) 5p. p is l=1  If l=1 then 2 x 1+ 1=3 sublevels, 3*2= electrons. This means in the 5 shell, the p orbital has 3 subshell and accommodate 6 electrons.

(c) n = 4, l = 3 if l=3 then 2 x 3+ 1=7 sublevel 7*2=14 electrons. This means the in the 4 shell, the f orbital has 7 subshell and accomdate 14 elections.

The complete combustion of propane (C3H8) in the presence of oxygen yields CO2 and H2O: C3H8 (g) + 5O2 (g) 3CO2 (g) + 4H2O (g) a
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

26.9 L is the volume of CO₂, we obtained

Explanation:

The reaction is: C₃H₈(g) + 5O₂(g)  →  3CO₂ (g) + 4H₂O (g)

Let's determine the reactants moles:

27.5 g . 1mol / 44 g = 0.625 moles

We need density of O₂ to determine mass and then, the moles.

O₂ density = O₂ mass / O₂ volume

O₂ density . O₂ volume = O₂ mass

1.429 g/L . 45L = O₂ mass → 64.3 g

Moles of O₂ → 64.3 g . 1mol/32g = 2.009 moles

Let's find out the limiting reactant:

1 mol of propane needs 5 moles of oxygen to react

Then, 0.625 moles will react with (0.625 . 5)/1 = 3.125 moles of O₂

Oxygen is the limiting reactant, we need 3.125 moles but we only have 2.009 moles

Ratio is 5:3. 5 moles of O₂ produce 3 moles of CO₂

Therefore, 2.009 moles of O₂ must produce (2.009 .3) /5 = 1.21 moles of CO₂. Let's find out the volume, by Ideal Gases Law (STP are 1 atm and 273K, the standard conditions)

1 atm . V = 1.21 moles . 0.082 . 273K

V = (1.21 moles . 0.082 . 273K) / 1atm = 26.9 L

Rhodium crystallizes in a face-centered cubic unit cell. The radius of a rhodium atom is 135 pm. Determine the density of rhodiu
Deffense [45]

Answer:

Density of unit cell ( rhodium) = 12.279 g/cm³

Explanation:

Given that:

The radius (r) of a rhodium atom = 135 pm

The atomic mass of rhodium = 102.90 amu

For a face-centered cubic unit cell,

r = \dfrac{a}{2\sqrt{2}}

where;

a = edge length.

Making "a" the subject of the formula:

a = 2 \sqrt{2} \times r

a = 2 \times 1.414 \times 135 \ pm

a = 381.8 pm

to cm, we get:

a = 381.8 × 10⁻¹⁰ cm

However, recall that:

density \ of \ unit \ cell = \dfrac{mass \ of \ unit \ cell}{volume \ of \unit \ cell}

where;

mass of unit cell = mass of atom × numbers of atoms per unit cell

Also;

mass\  of\ atom =\dfrac{ atomic \ mass}{Avogadro  \  number}

mass\  of\ atom =\dfrac{ 102.9}{6.023 \times 10^{23}}

Recall also that number of atoms in a unit cell for a  face-centered cubic = 4

So;

mass \ of \ unit \ cell= \dfrac{102.90}{6.023 \times 10^{23}}\times 4

mass of unit cell = 6.83380375 × 10⁻²² g

Density  \ of  \ unit \  cell = \dfrac{6.83380375 \times 10^{-22}}{(381.8\times 10^{-10})^3}

Density of unit cell ( rhodium) = 12.279 g/cm³
