A student constructed a simple electric circuit where two light bulbs were connected in parallel. The circuit power source was a
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

RT =  17 ohms

Explanation:

For two parallel resistances in a circuit the combined resistance is given by:

\frac{1}{R_T}=\frac{1}{R_1}+\frac{1}{R_2}\\\\\frac{1}{R_T}=\frac{R_2+R_1}{R_1R_2}\\\\R_T=\frac{R_1R_2}{R_1+R_2}

R1 = 25 ohms

R2 = 50 ohms

You replace the values of R1 and R2 in the formula for RT:

R_T=\frac{(25)(50)}{25+50}ohms=16.66\ ohms \approx 17\ ohms

hence, the combined resitances is 17 ohms

A ray of light travels from a glass-to-liquid interface at an angle of 35.0º. Indices of refraction for the glass and liquid are
UkoKoshka [18]

Answer:

The angle of refraction for the ray moving through the liquid is = 32.3°

Explanation:

Refractive index of liquid (n₁/n₂) = sini/sinr

∴                 n₁/n₂ = sini/sinr ................ equation 1

n₁ = index of refraction for glass, n₂ = index of refraction for liquid

Where i = incident angle of the first medium, r = angle of refraction or angle in the second medium.

Since the light ray is traveling from glass - to - liquid,  the first medium is glass and the second medium is liquid. and the refractive index will be that liquid with respect to glass.

using the equation,

n₁/n₂ = sini/sinr

i = 35° , n₁ = 1.52, n₂= 1.63

Making sinr the subject of the equation above,

sinr = sini/(n₁/n₂)

sinr = sin35(1.52)/1.63

sinr =0.574(1.52)/1.63

sinr = 0.535

Taking the sin inverse of both side of the equation

sin⁻¹(sinr) = sin⁻¹(0.535)

∴ r = 32.3°

The angle of refraction for the ray moving through the liquid is = 32.3°

The right option is (b). 32.3°

A moving particle encounters an external electric field that decreases its kinetic energy from 9650 eV to 8900 eV as the particl
mafiozo [28]

Answer:

Charge, q=3.24\times 10^{-18}\ C

Explanation:

A moving particle encounters an external electric field that decreases its kinetic energy from 9650 eV to 8900 eV as the particle moves from position A to position B The electric potential at A is 56.0 V and that at B is 19.0 V. We need to find the charge of the particle.

It can be calculated using conservation of energy as :

\Delta KE=-q(V_B-V_A)

q=\dfrac{\Delta KE}{(V_B-V_A)}

q=\dfrac{ 9650\ eV-8900\ eV}{(19\ V-56\ V)}

q = -20.27 e

q =-20.27e\times \dfrac{1.6\times 10^{-19}\ C}{e}

q=-3.24\times 10^{-18}\ C

Hence, this is the required solution.
