8 * 3 - 4x ____ 7(10 - x)

First simplify. Multiply 8 with 3, and distribute 7 to all terms in the parenthesis

24 - 4x _____ 70 - 7x

Set as an equal sign.

-4x + 24 = 70 - 7x

Solve for x. Add 7x to both sides, and subtract 24 from both sides

-4x (+7x) + 24 (-24) = 70 (-24) - 7x (+7x)

-4x + 7x = 70 - 24

3x = 46

Isolate the x. divide 3 to both sides

3x/3 = 46/3

x = 15.33 (rounded)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plug in 15.33 for x in the equation:

24 - 4x _____ 70 - 7x

24 - 4(15.33) ______ 70 - 7(15.33)

Simplify

24 - 62.32 __________ 70 - 107.31

Simplify

-38.32 ____ -37.31

To make this "equation" correct, use the right sign.

-38.32 < - 37.31

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

c. < should be your answer

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope this helps

The correct answer is C. <

Here's why:

8 x 3 = 24

24 - 12 = 12

8 * 3 - 4x = 12

________________________________

7 (10 - x) . . .

10 - x = 7

7 * 7 = 49

7 (10 - x) = 49

12 < 49

I hope this helps!

Given the equation 2 Square root of x minus 5 = 2, solve for x and identify if it is an extraneous solution.
leonid [27]
2 square root (x - 5) = 2. 2^2 (x -5) = 2^2. 4(x - 5) = 4. 4x - 20 = 4. 4x = 24. x = 6. This solution is not extraneous, because extraneous solutions emerge from solving the problem but are not actually valid solutions for the initial problem. With rounding, this solution is valid for the initial problem.

Angela decides to recycle a large oatmeal container by using it to hold a friends birthday gift. Then she wraps the container in
Deffense [45]

Answer:

D. 135.37 in²

Step-by-step explanation:

We have that the gift paper consists of two circles and a square.

Thus, we will need to find the area of the circles and the square.

Now, as the diameter of the circle = 4 inches

So, the radius of the circle = \frac{4}{2} = 2 inches

Since, the area of a circle = \pi r^{2}

This implies that area of the two circles = 2\times \pi r^{2}

i.e. Area of the circles = 2\times \pi 2^{2}

i.e. Area of the circles = 8\pi

i.e. Area of the two circles = 25.133 in²

Further, one side of the square = 10.5 inches

Thus, the area of the square = side^{2}

i.e. Area of the square = 10.5^{2}

i.e. Area of the square = 110.25 in²

So, the overall area of the gift paper = 25.133 + 110.25 = 135.37 in².

Hence, the amount of paper used by Angela is 135.37 in².
