A toy company has determined that the revenue generated by a particular toy is modeled by the following equation: 13x - 0.025x²

The variable x is measured in thousands of toys produced, and r(x) is measured in thousands of dollars. What is the maximum revenue the company can earn with this toy?

R(x) = 13x - 0.025x^2
For maximum R, R'(x) = 0
R'(x) = 13 - 0.05x = 0
0.05x = 13
x = 13/0.05 = 260

R(260) = 13(260) - 0.025(260)^2 = 3380 - 1690 = 1690
Maximum revenue = $1,690,000

When taking the quiz, make sure to enter 1690 as your answer and not 1,690,000 or else it will be considered wrong due to the fact that the question asks for the number in units of thousands. (:

Mister Parts recorded the number of absent students at Brighton Middle School last week what was the mean number of absent stude
serg [7]

A. 8.8 students per day on average were absent.

1) If the absence recorded was:

On Monday: 11

On Tuesday: 9

On Wed: 6

On Thu: 9

On Fri: 9

2) Since the number of weekdays were 5 we can calculate the mean of absent students by adding all those absences and dividing by 5

So, 11+9+6+9+9+9 =44

Dividing by 5

So the mean or the average of the absence was 8.8

the axis of symmetry of a quadratic equation is x = –3. if one of the zeroes of the equation is 4, what is the other zero?
FinnZ [79.3K]
ANSWER

The other zero is

x = - 10

EXPLANATION

The axis of symmetry serves as the midpoint of the two zeroes.

We were given that the axis of symmetry of the quadratic equation is
x = - 3

We were also given that, one of the zeroes of the quadratic equation is
x = 4

Let the other zero of the quadratic equation be
x = p

,then, we apply the midpoint formula to find the value of
p

Since it is the x-values of the intercepts that gives the solution, we use only the x-value part of the midpoint formula which is given by,

\frac{x_1 + x_2}{2} = axis \: of \: symmetry

We substitute to obtain,

\frac{p + 4}{2} = - 3

We multiply through by 2 to get,

p + 4 = - 6

This implies that,

p = - 6 - 4

p = - 10

Carlo is building a wooden box that is shaped like a cube. He wants the box to have a volume of 64 cubic inches.What is the area
atroni [7]

Answer: 16 square inches

Explanation:

Apply the cube root to 64 to get \sqrt[3]{64} = 64^{1/3} = 4

The exponent 1/3 is handy if your calculator doesn't have a cube root button.

This wooden cube has side lengths of 4 inches each.

Each square face will have an area of 4^2 = 4*4 = 16 square inches.
