If n = 8, evaluate 26 - 3 (n + 8) ÷ 4
sasho [114]

Answer:

14

Step-by-step explanation:

PLUG 8 in for n.  Use the order of operations to evaluate.  26-3(8+8)/4=

becomes: 26-3(16)/4=; multiply 3 x 16 = 48, use order of operations to divide 48/4=12. Then problem becomes: 26-12 = 14.

PLEASE ANSWER ASAP WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST Bob bought three chapsticks and two eyeliners for 7 dollars. Brandi bought 4 chapsticks
Snowcat [4.5K]

The cost of one chapstick is $1 and one eyeliner is $2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

Cost of one chapstick = x

Cost of one eyeliner = y

According to given statement;

3x+2y=7      Eqn 1

4x+5y=14    Eqn 2

Multiplying Eqn 1 by 4

4(3x+2y=7)\\12x+8y=28\ \ \ Eqn\ 3

Multiplying Eqn 2 by 3

3(4x+5y=14)\\12x+15y=42\ \ \ Eqn\ 4

Subtracting Eqn 3 from Eqn 4

(12x+15y)-(12x+8y)=42-28\\12x+15y-12x-8y=14\\7y=14

Dividing both sides by 7

\frac{7y}{7}=\frac{14}{7}\\y=2

Putting y=2 in Eqn 1

3x+2(2)=7\\3x+4=7\\3x=7-4\\3x=3

Dividing both sides by 3

\frac{3x}{3}=\frac{3}{3}\\x=1

The cost of one chapstick is $1 and one eyeliner is $2.

Plant B is 6 2/3 inches tall. and C is 4 4/15 inches tall. Complete the sentences and show your reasoning
artcher [175]

Answer:

Plant C is <u>0.64</u> times as tall as Plant B

Plant C is <u>2.4 inches</u> shorter than Plant B

Step-by-step explanation:

Plant B is 6 2/3 inches tall. Plant B is 20/3 inches tall.

Plant C 4 4/15 inches tall. Plant C is 64/15 inches tall.

a.) Plant C is shorter than Plant B = \frac{64}{15} \times \frac{1}{\frac{20}{3} } = \frac{64}{15} \times\frac{3}{20} = \frac{16}{25} = 0.64 times.

b.) Plant C is shorter than Plant B by = \frac{20}{3} - \frac{64}{15} = \frac{100}{15} - \frac{64}{15} = \frac{100 -64}{15} = \frac{36}{15} = 2\frac{2}{5} = 2.4 inches
