In the question it is given Sin theta= \frac{8}{17}

Sine theta is given to lie in second quadrant and the question is asking to find cot theta.

In second quadrant sine is positive while cot is negative.

Sine is the ratio of opposite and hypotenuse.

Sin theta =\frac{opposite}{hypotenuse}

Cot theta=\frac{Adjacent }{opposite}

For the given question opposite is 8 and hypotenuse is 17.

We can find adjacent side by using Pythagoras Theorem

c^{2} =a^{2} +b^{2}

c is hypotenuse and a and b are the two legs

Substituting the value of c and b we have:

17^{2} =8^{2} +b^{2}

289=64+b^{2}

289-64=b^{2}

[ subtracting 64 both sides]

225=b^{2}

Taking root both sides

b=15

Cot theta=- \frac{15}{8}

A poster is to have a total area of 125 cm2. There is a margin round the edges of 6 cm at the top and 4 cm at the sides and bott
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

The correct answer is 15 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of the required poster be a cm.

We need to have a 6 cm margin at the top and a 4 cm margin at the bottom. Thus total margin combining top and bottom is 10 cm.

Similarly total margin combining both the sides is (4+4=) 8 cm.

So the required printing area of the poster is given by {( a-10 ) × ( a - 8) } cm^{2}

This area is equal to 125 cm^{2} as per as the given problem.

∴ (a - 10) × (a - 8) = 125

⇒ a^{2} - 18 a +80 -125 =0

⇒ a^{2} - 18 a -45 = 0

⇒ (a-15) (a-3) = 0

By law of trichotomy the possible values of a are 15 and 3.

But a=3 is absurd as a > 4.

Thus the required answer is 15 cm.

I WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST!!!! Calculate cos M if a= 4, b= 12.5, c= 13.1244 **Round your answer up to four decimal places.
kompoz [17]

Answer:

cosM ≈ 0.3048

Step-by-step explanation:

remember SOH CAH TOA = sine: opposite/hypotenuse; cosine: adjacent/hypotenuse; tangent: opposite/adjacent

cos = CAH

cosM= a / c

cosM = 4.0 / 13.1244

cosM = 0.30477

cosM ≈ 0.3048
