Dimensions of pool are length 10 feet and width 45 feet and height 8 feet

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that,

Rectangular swimming pool is 8ft deep

Height = 8 feet

The amount of water needed to fill the swimming pool is 3600 cubic feet

Volume of pool = 3600 cubic feet

Let "x" be the length of rectangular pool

One side of the pool is 4.5 times longer than the other

So, width of pool = 4.5x

The volume of pool is given as:

volume = length \times width \times height

Substituting the known values,

3600 = x \times 4.5x \times 8\\\\36x^2 = 3600\\\\x^2 = 100\\\\x = \pm 10

Since length cannot be negative, ignore x = -10

Thus solution is x = 10

Therefore, length = x = 10 feet

width = 4.5x = 4.5(10) = 45 feet

Thus dimensions of pool are length 10 feet and width 45 feet and height 8 feet
