Explanation:

The selective distortion reflects a state where people subconsciously try to make a new information based upon their own ideas and tries to oppose which is abide by the majority or ideas and facts followed by others. This is truly based on once knowledge, expertise, observation and interpretation of facts.

The given situation, is an example of selective distortion, although Bob had studied the circular which recommends the lower intake of salt but Bob has observed his grandfather who used to take extra salt in his diet and he was 90 years old and still was healthy. Thus Bob oppose the recommendations of low intake of salt by the human health and safety department.
