How are the values of adjacent places in the decimal representations of numbers related?

Mathematics

Each digit of a number has its own value which represents a value of its own. For adjacent digits, their values differ by 10 times. For example, if the number is 0.65, the 6 is in the tenths digit and the 5 is in the hundredths digit. Their individual values would be 6/10 and 5/100.

A hyperbola centered at the origin has a vertex at (0,−40) and a focus at (0, 41).
aniked [119]

\frac{(x-h)^{2} }{a^{2} } - \frac{(y - k)^{2} }{b^{2} } = 1

\frac{(x-0)^{2} }{40^{2} } - \frac{(y - 0)^{2} }{b^{2} } = 1

a² + b² = c²

40² + b² = 41²

         b² = 41² - 40²

         b² = 1681 - 1600

         b² = 81

         b = 9

slope (m) of asymptote = +/-\frac{y}{x} = +/-\frac{b}{a} = +/-\frac{9}{40}

y-intercept (b) = 0 since the center is at the origin

Answer: y = \frac{9}{40}x and y = -\frac{9}{40}x

A student walk 60m on a bearing
Katena32 [7]

Answer:

d = 234.6 m

Step-by-step explanation:

You can consider a system of coordinates with its origin at the beginning of the walk of the student.

When she start to walk, she is at (0,0)m. After her first walk, her coordinates are calculated by using the information about the incline and the distance that she traveled:

x_1=60cos28\°=52.97m\\\\y_1=60sin28\°=28.16m

she is at the coordinates (52.97 , 28.16)m.

Next, when she walks 180m to the east, her coordinates are:

(52.97+180 , 28.16)m = (232.97 , 28.16)m

To calculate the distance from the final point of the student to the starting point you use the Pythagoras generalization for the distance between two points:

d=\sqrt{(x-x_o)^2+(y-y_o)^2}\\\\x=232.97\\\\x_o=0\\\\y=28.16\\\\y_o=0\\\\d=\sqrt{(232.97-0)^2+(28.16-0)^2}m=234.6m

The displacement of the student on her complete trajectory was of 234.6m

Find the 11th term of the geometric sequence 1, 4, 16, ...
drek231 [11]

Answer:

a(11) = 4^10 = 1048576

Step-by-step explanation:

The first term of this geometric sequence, a(1), is 1, and the common ratio, r, is 4.  Each new term is 4 times the previous term.  Thus,

a(n) = 1*4^(n - 1), and

a(11) = 4^10 = 1048576
