Smaller number = y

According to given statement;

x = 2y + 11   Eqn 1

x+y=7y -1    Eqn 2

Putting value of x from Eqn 1 in Eqn 2;

(2y+11)+y=7y-1\\2y+11+y=7y-1\\3y+11=7y-1\\3y-7y=-1-11\\-4y=-12

Dividing both sides by -4

\frac{-4y}{-4}=\frac{-12}{-4}\\y=3

Putting y=3 in Eqn 1

x=2(3)+11\\x=6+11\\x=17

The larger number is 17 and smaller number is 3.
