An insulated piston–cylinder device contains 5 l of saturated liquid water at a constant pressure of 150 kpa. an electric resist

ance heater inside the cylinder is now turned on, and 2200 kj of energy is transferred to the steam. determine the entropy change of the water during this process.

At the initial state: v1 = vf = 0.001053 m 3 /kg, h1 = hf = 467.11 kJ/kg, and s1 = sf = 1.4336 kJ/kgK.
 The mass of the water is: m = V/v1 = 0.005/0.001053 = 4.7483 kg.
 To find the final state, we will use the First Law:
 Q12 = m(h2 - h1) for closed system undergoing a constant pressure process.
 h2 = 1Q2/m + h1 = 2200/4.7483 + 467.11 = 930.43 kJ/kg.
 At P2 = P1 = 150 kPa, this is a saturated mixture.
 hf = 467.11 kJ/kg, hfg = 2226.5 kJ/kg, sf = 1.4336 kJ/kgK, and sfg = 5.7897  kJ/kgK
 s2 = sf + sfg (h2 – hf )/hfg = 1.4336 + 5.7897(930.43 – 467.11)/2226.5 =   2.6384 kJ/kgK.
 The entropy change of water is:
 Delta Ssys= m(s2 – s1) = 4.7483(2.6384 – 1.4336) = 5.72 kJ/K.

Is static electricity more harmful than it is helpful or vice versa
Deffense [45]

Answer:

You might even see a spark if the discharge of electrons is large enough. The good news is that static electricity can't seriously harm you. Your body is composed largely of water and water is an inefficient conductor of electricity, especially in amounts this small. Not that electricity can't hurt or kill you.

The magnification produced by a plane mirror is +1. what does this mean?
disa [49]

Answer:

The magnification produced by a plane mirror is +1

means then the size of the image is equal to the size of the object. If m has a magnitude greater than 1 the image is larger than the object, and an m with a magnitude less than 1 means the image is smaller than the object.

(1 point) A projectile is fired from ground level with an initial speed of 600 m/sec and an angle of elevation of 30 degrees. Us
konstantin123 [22]

Answer:

(a) The range of the projectile is 31,813.18 m

(b) The maximum height of the projectile is 4,591.84 m

(c) The speed with which the projectile hits the ground is 670.82 m/s.

Explanation:

Given;

initial speed of the projectile, u = 600 m/s

angle of projection, θ = 30⁰

acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.8 m/s²

(a) The range of the projectile in meters;

R = \frac{u^2sin \ 2\theta}{g} \\\\R = \frac{600^2 sin(2\times 30^0)}{9.8} \\\\R = \frac{600^2 sin (60^0)}{9.8} \\\\R = 31,813.18 \ m

(b) The maximum height of the projectile in meters;

H = \frac{u^2 sin^2\theta}{2g} \\\\H = \frac{600^2 (sin \ 30)^2}{2\times 9.8} \\\\H = \frac{600^2 (0.5)^2}{19.6} \\\\H = 4,591.84 \ m

(c) The speed with which the projectile hits the ground is;

v^2 = u^2 + 2gh\\\\v^2 = 600^2 + (2 \times 9.8)(4,591.84)\\\\v^2 = 360,000 + 90,000.064\\\\v = \sqrt{450,000.064} \\\\v = 670.82 \ m/s
