Answer:

The reaction only takes place if the reactants are in contact, then the surface exposed is very important because as the exposed surface of the reactants increases, the reaction velocity also increases. If the lumps are not broken up, a big amount of baking soda would be only available to react after the surrounding soda has already reacted.

an ant weighing 200 N and wearing platform heels with a total area of 7 square centimeters would exert how much pressure?
iVinArrow [24]

The pressure exerted is 2.86\cdot 10^5 Pa

Explanation:

The pressure exerted by a force on a surface is given by

p=\frac{F}{A}

where

p is the pressure

F is the magnitude of the force

A is the area of the surface

In this problem, we have:

F = 200 N is the force exerted (the weight of the ant)

A=7 cm^2 = 7\cdot 10^{-4} m^2 is the area

Therefore, the pressure exerted is:

p=\frac{200}{7\cdot 10^{-4}}=2.86\cdot 10^5 Pa

The banking angle in a turn on the Olympic bobsled track is not constant, but increases upward from the horizontal. Coming aroun
zlopas [31]

Answer:

the curve inclination is increased so that a weight component helps keep the car on track

Explanation:

In the sledging competition these devices go at quite high speeds over 100 km/h, so when reaching the curves the friction force is not enough to keep the car on the track. For this reason,  the curve inclination is increased so that a weight component helps keep the car on track.

In general we can solve Newton's second law for this case, with the condition of no friction, it is found that

   V² = r g tan θ

 Where V is the maximum velocity, r is the radius of the curve a, θ is the angle of the inclination
