What is the eccentricity of a planet's orbit if the focal distance is 8 and the major axis is 32?

Focal distance of an ellipse is given by the formula

f = ae

here a = length of semi major axis

e = eccentricity of the path

now here we know that

length of major axis for the path of planet is given as 32 units

so here we can say

2a = 32 units

a = 16 units

so length of semi major axis is 16 units

focal distance for the planet path is given as 8 units

now from the above formula we can write

f = a*e

8 = 16*e

e = \frac{8}{16}

e = \frac{1}{2} = 0.5

so eccentricity for the path of planet will be 0.5

An electron moves with velocity v⃗ =(5.8i−6.7j)×104m/s in a magnetic field B⃗ =(−0.81i+0.60j)T.
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

Fₓ = 0,  F_{y} = 0  and  F_{z}<em> = - 3.115 10⁻¹⁵   N</em>

Explanation:

The magnetic force given by the expression

       F = q v xB

the bold are vectors,  the easiest analytical way to determine this force in solving the determinant

   F = q \left[\begin{array}{ccc}i&j&k\\5.8&-6.7&0\\-0.81&0.6&0\end{array}\right]  10^{4}

   F = 1.6 10⁻¹⁵ [ i( 0-0) + j (0-0) + k^( 5.8 0.60 - 0.81 67) ]

   F =i^0 + j^0   - k^  3.115 10⁻¹⁵   N

Fₓ = 0

F_{y} = 0

F_{z}<em> = - 3.115 10⁻¹⁵   N</em>

what evidence can you cite that the interstellar medium contains both gas and dust? (select all that apply.)
Basile [38]

(a) The gas of interstellar medium can be detected from the radiations of photons of  wavelength 21 cm.

(b) The gas of interstellar medium can be detected from the absorption lines present in the light from distant stars, which must be caused by a medium of density and temperature other than that of the stars emitting the lights.

<h3>What is interstellar medium?</h3>

Interstellar medium is the matter and radiation that exist in the space between the star systems in a galaxy.

<h3>Evidence that interstellar medium contains both gas and dust</h3>
  • The gas of interstellar medium can be detected from the radiations of photons of  wavelength 21 cm.
  • The gas of interstellar medium can be detected from the absorption lines present in the light from distant stars, which must be caused by a medium of density and temperature other than that of the stars emitting the lights.

what causes places near the equator to receive more direct sunlight than the poles? the poles are farther away from the sun than
Andru [333]
This is due to the tilt of the earth on its axis. Although the Sun shines on Earth, because of how the Earth is tilted, the equator is more directly hit compared to places found on the poles. The poles are hit at an angle, therefore the sunlight they receive is lesser than the places at the equator.

Contact [7]
The answer is commensalism because commensalism is a relationship where an organism is benefitted and the other is neither benefitted nor harmed. The barnacle is being benefited and the whale is not being benefited or harmed.
