Answer:

The acceleration of the train must be - 0.133 m/s²

Explanation:

Lets explain how to solve the problem

A train in order for it to stop 12 m/s in a distance if 541 m

That means the initial velocity of the train is 12 m/s

Its final velocity is zero (stop)

The distance it covers is 541 m

We want to find its acceleration

The acceleration will be negative quantity because the train reduced its

velocity from 12 m/s to zero

We need rule contains velocity, acceleration and distance

So we will use ⇒<em> v² = u² + 2as</em>, where v is the final velocity, u is the

initial velocity, a is the acceleration and s is the distance

v = 0, u = 12 m/s, s = 541 m

Substitute these values in the rule

(0)² = (12)² + 2(a)(541)

0 = 144 + 1082 a

Subtract 144 from both sides

-144 = 1082 a

Divide both sides by 1082

- 0.133 = a

<em>The acceleration of the train must be - 0.133 m/s²</em>

Dear Amrish

I have come to know that since your school has closed for the Autumn Break you have plenty of free time at your disposal at the moment. I would like to tell you that even I am having holidays now.

It has been a long time since we have spent some time together. If you are free, I would welcome to have your company this weekend. Why don’t you come over to my house and spend a day or so with me?

I am anxiously waiting for your reply.

Yours affectionately

If two particles have equal kinetic energies, are their momenta necessarily equal? explain.
Mandarinka [93]

Answer:

No the given statement is not necessarily true.

Explanation:

We know that the kinetic energy of a particle of mass 'm' moving with velocity 'v' is given by

K.E=\frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

Similarly the momentum is given by m\times v

For 2 particles with masses m_{1},m_{2}and moving with velocities v_{1},v_{2} respectively the respective kinetic energies is given by

K.E_{1}=\frac{1}{2}m_{1}v_{1}^{2}

K.E_{2}=\frac{1}{2}m_{2}v_{2}^{2}

Similarly For 2 particles with masses m_{1},m_{2}and moving with velocities v_{1},v_{2} respectively the respective momenta are given by

p_{1}=m_{1}\times v_{1}

p_{2}=m_{2}\times v_{2}

Now since it is given that the two kinetic energies are equal thus we have

\frac{1}{2}m_{1}v_{1}^{2}=\frac{1}{2}m_{2}v_{2}^{2}\\\\(m_{1}v_{1})\times v_{1}=(m_{2}v_{2})\times v_{2}\\\\p_{1}\times v_{1}=p_{2}\times v_{2}\\\\\therefore \frac{p_{1}}{p_{2}}=\frac{v_{2}}{v_{1}}............(i)

Thus we infer that the moumenta are not equal since the ratio on right of 'i' is not 1 , and can be 1 only if the velocities of the 2 particles are equal which becomes a special case and not a general case.

Which statements describe features that maps and globes share? Check all that apply.
leonid [27]

Maps and Globes share the following features:

Both are scale Models.

Explanation:

A globe is a scale model of the Earth that presents the most accurate depiction of geographic information such as area, distance, and direction.

A map is a two dimensional representation or a drawing of the earth’s surface, or a part of it, on a flat surface, according to a scale. Thus it is also a scale model.

A globe differs from a map. It is a three dimensional sphere representing the whole Earth.

A map is usually used to represent a specific part of the Earth and is used for Navigation. It has details and symbols. However, a globe can not be used for such details.

A globe can be used to get a broad-level picture of the world.
