Meteoroids are small objects in space, usually made of rock or metal. These bodies often get close to a planet and fall through

its atmosphere. A burning streak of light, called a ,{ ASTEROID, COMET, METEOR, METEOROID } is visible as it falls through the sky. Sometimes the object does not burn up completely and a part of it survives the fall to the planet’s surface. These rocky bodies, called { ASTEROID, COMET, METEOR, METEOROID } , are studied by scientists to gain a better understanding of our solar system.

Answer:

1. A burning streak of light, called a Meteor.

2.The rocky bodies that survives the fall to the planet’s surface are Meteorites.

Explanation:

Let us see the difference between them.

  1. Asteroids: They are the remnants of a broken planet orbiting the sun in between Mars and Saturn.  They are small rocky bodies from a tennis ball size to larger ones weighing a few tones.
  2. Meteoroids: They are the small rocky objects of pebble size formed due to the collision of asteroids.
  3. Meteors: These are pebble size objects that enter Earth's atmosphere and burns off by forming streaks of light.
  4. Meteorites: These are rocky objects bigger than meteors than don't burn out completely and fall on the earth's surface.
  5. Comets:  These are objects mainly made of dust and ice that orbit the sun in a highly elliptical orbit. This composition makes a long tail when approaching the sun.

A steam power plant produces 500 MW of electricity with an overall thermal efficiency of 35%. Determine (a) the rate at which he
Margaret [11]

Answer:

Explanation:

500 MW = 500 X 10⁶ J / s

If R be the rate of heat supplied and 35 % is the efficiency of conversion

R x .35 = 500 X 10⁶

R =  500 X 10⁶ / .35

= 1428.57 x 10⁶ J / s

b )

Rate of heat going waste

= .65 x 1428.57 x 10⁶

= 928 .57 x 10⁶ J / s

c )

Heat content of coal = 30 x 10⁶ J /kg

1428.57 x 10⁶ J of heat will come from

= 1428.57 x 10⁶ J  / 30 x 10⁶ J /kg

= 47.62 kg per second

= 47.62 x 24 x 60 x 60 =  4114368 kg in one day

= 4114368 / 907.185 ton per day

= 4535.31 ton per day

d ) Fuel consumption rate  will decrease by 12.5  % if thermal efficiency is increased to 40 % .

Why Is It Hard For Electrons To Move Through An Insulator
Mrac [35]
An insulator is not a good source for heat or electricity to move through.  Wood is an example of an insulator. The opposite of insulator is conductor.  An example of a conductor is metal.

The work done in holding a 30kg of bricks to a height of 20m is
ella [17]
The work done to "HOLD" a load of bricks at any height is zero.
Work is done only when force acts through a DISTANCE.

The work done to LIFT 30 kg of anything to 20m higher than
it already is, is

(force) · (vertical distance)

= (mass) · (gravity) · (vertical distance)

= (30 kg) · (9.8 m/s²) · (20 m)

= 5,880 joules
