The system won't have a unique solution when what appears to be two lines is really only one line.  The coefficients in an equation for a line only matter in ratio; if we multiply them all by the same non-zero scalar we'll still have the same line, of course with an  infinite number of points on it, our infinite number of solutions.

2x - y = 8

6x - 3y = 4a

We need these to be the same equation, meaning they have to have all the same solutions.  So we have to figure out the factor to multiply the first equation by to get the second.

That factor is obviously 3 because 3(2x)=6x and 3(-y)=-3y.   So we need the constants in the same ratio,

3(8) = 4a

24 = 4a

a = 6

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>1.2*8=16</u>

<u>16-8=8</u>

<u>2.6*8=48</u>

<u>3*8=24</u>

<u>4*8=32</u>

<u>48-24=32</u>

Prove identity trigonometric equation
irina [24]

Explanation:

The given equation is False, so cannot be proven to be true.

__

Perhaps you want to prove ...

  2\tan{x}=\dfrac{\cos{x}}{\csc{(x)}-1}+\dfrac{\cos{x}}{\csc{(x)}+1}

This is one way to show it:

  2\tan{x}=\cos{(x)}\dfrac{(\csc{(x)}+1)+(\csc{(x)}-1)}{(\csc{(x)}-1)(\csc{(x)}+1)}\\\\=\cos{(x)}\dfrac{2\csc{(x)}}{\csc{(x)}^2-1}=2\cos{(x)}\dfrac{\csc{x}}{\cot{(x)}^2}=2\dfrac{\cos{(x)}\sin{(x)}^2}{\cos{(x)}^2\sin{(x)}}\\\\=2\dfrac{\sin{x}}{\cos{x}}\\\\2\tan{x}=2\tan{x}\qquad\text{QED}

__

We have used the identities ...

  csc = 1/sin

  cot = cos/sin

  csc^2 -1 = cot^2

  tan = sin/cos

Whats the equation for this
yawa3891 [41]

Answer:

x^2 + y^2 + 4x + 4y  = -119/16

Step-by-step explanation:

The axes x and y are calibrated in 0.25

If the circle is carefully considered, the radius r of the circle is:

r = -1.25 - (-2)

r = 0.75 units

The equation of a circle is given by:

(x - a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = r^2

The center of the circle (a, b) = (-2, -2)

Substituting  (a, b) = (-2, -2) and r = 0.75 into the given equation:

(x - (-2))^2 + (y - (-2))^2 = (3/4)^2\\\\(x + 2)^2 + (y + 2)^2 = (3/4)^2\\\\x^2 + 4x + 4 + y^2 + 4y + 4 = 9/16\\\\x^2 + y^2 + 4x + 4y + 8 = 9/16\\\\16x^2 + 16y^2 + 64x + 64y + 128 = 9\\\\16x^2 + 16y^2 + 64x + 64y  = -119\\\\x^2 + y^2 + 4x + 4y  = -119/16\\

tina drove 60 miles per hour to tucson. write a function rule that relates the number of miles traveled to the total of the hour
just olya [345]
A function rule would be y = 60x. Y represents the number of miles traveled, and X represents the number of hours. For example, if Tina drove for three hours, it would be 60×3 which is 180 miles.
