A horizontal force of 14.0N is applied to a box of m=32.5kg with Vo=0. Ignoring friction, how far does the crate travel in 10.0s
Alex Ar [27]
I’m going to assume initial velocity is 0.

Use Newton’s second law:

F = m•a

F/m = a

14.0/32.5kg= 28/65 m/s^2

Use constant SUVAT acceleration formulae:

S- displacement - what we need to find out

U - initial velocity - 0

V

A - 28/65 m/s^2

T - 10 seconds

S = ut + 1/2at^2

Since u = 0

S = 1/2at^2

1/2• 28/65 • 10^2 = 21.5metres~

Answer is 21.5 metres

Why do some quasars have red shifts greater than 1?.
slega [8]

Answer:

They are very distant.

Explanation:

With relativistic red shifts that take into account dilation of space-time, as Einstein predicted.

A spring with spring-constant of 100 n/m is compressed 0.10 m. what is its maximum stored elastic potential energy
Ganezh [65]

Elastic potential energy stored in a spring is

(1/2) · (spring constant) · (stretch or compress)² .

PE = (1/2) · (100 N/m) · (0.1 m)²

PE = (50 N/m) · (0.01 m²)

PE = (50 · 0.01) (N · m / m²)

PE = 0.5 N · m

PE = 0.5 Joule

Striking a fixed object at 60 MPH is the same as falling from a _____ story building:
yulyashka [42]

speed of the striking object is given as

v = 60 mph

now this speed in SI units given as

v = 60 \times \frac{1609 m}{3600 s}

v = 26.82 m/s

So here we can use kinematic now to find the height from where it is dropped

so here we will have

v_f^2 - v_i^2 = 2 a d

now we have

v_f = 26.82 m/s

v_i = 0

a = 9.81 m/s^2

now from above equation

26.82^2 - 0 = 2(9.81)d

d = 36.67 m

now we know that average height of 1 story building is 3 meter

so approx total number of stories in the building will be

N = \frac{36.67}{3} = 12 story
