Hey there Abigaildonaimor,

A cyclist rode at an average speed of 10mph for 15 miles. How long was the ride?

Answer:

Time = Distance / Rate
         = 15 miles / 10mph
         = 1.5 hours

Hope this helps :D

How does fluorine's atomic radius compared to oxygen's radius and chlorine's
yanalaym [24]

Answer:

F < O < Cl

Explanation:

Fluorine has a greater effective nuclear charge than oxygen does, meaning that the electrons are drawn tighter and closer toward the nucleus. Fluorine has 9 protons and 9 electrons while oxygen only has 8 protons and electrons. Chlorine has a larger atomic radius than both fluorine and chlorine because has another energy level (shell). Although chlorine has the same effective nuclear charge as fluorine, chlorine has more electrons, 17, which requires an additional shell to contain them.

Which element has atoms that can bond with each other to form long chains or rings?
avanturin [10]
The correct answer is option 1. It is the carbon (C) atom that can bond with each other to form ring and chain structures in compounds. These ring and chain structures and compounds are called organic compounds. Chain structures include alkanes, alkenes, alkynes. Ring structures include cyclic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons.

6)Explain why a 0.010 M solution of hydrochloric acid, HCl has a pH of 2.00 but a 0.010 M solution of
ExtremeBDS [4]

0.010 M solution of hydrochloric acid, HCl has a pH of 2.00 but a 0.010 M solution of acetic acid, HCH₃COO, is 3.37 is because HCl dissociates more.

Dissociation

This is the separation of ions of an ionic compound when it dissolves.

Hydrogen ion concentration of HCl

Since 0.010 M solution of hydrochloric acid, HCl has a pH of 2.00 its hydrogen ion concentration is gotten from

pH = -log[H⁺]

So,

[H^{+} ] = 10^{-pH}

So, [H⁺] = 10⁻²

Hydrogen ion concentration of HCH₃COO

Also, since 0.010 M solution of acetic acid, HCH₃COO, has a pH of 3.37, its hydrogen ion concentration is gotten from

pH = -log[H⁺]

So,

[H^{+} ] = 10^{-pH}

So, [H⁺] = 10⁻³°³⁷ = 0.000427 = 4.27 × 10⁻⁴

Since the hydrogen ion concentration of HCl is 10⁻² and the hydrogen ion concentration of HCH₃COO is 4.27 × 10⁻⁴, we see that HCl dissociates more than HCH₃COO.

So, 0.010 M solution of hydrochloric acid, HCl has a pH of 2.00 but a 0.010 M solution of acetic acid, HCH₃COO, is 3.37 is because HCl dissociates more.

What is the temperature of 0.5 moles of water vapor that occupies 120 dm3 and applies a pressure of 15,000 Pa to its container?
MArishka [77]
Use the ideal gas law:

PV = nRT

so, T = PV / nR

n=0.5
V= 120 dm^3 = 120 L  (1 dm^3 = 1 L)
R = 1/12
P = 15,000 Pa =  0.147 atm     (1 pa = 9.86 10^{-6} )

Put the values:

T = PV / nR
T = (0.147) (120) / (0.5) (1/12)
T= 426 K
