An object has a total mechanical energy of 150 J. At point A, the object has a kinetic energy
nika2105 [10]

Answer:

60 J

Explanation:

The law of conservation of energy states that energy is neither created nor destroyed, just converted into different forms. This means the total mechanical energy of the object at point A will be the same as the total mechanical energy at point B, and the question tells us the total of that mechanical energy is 150 J. Note we are assuming no energy is lost from the system as heat.

At point B, if the potential energy is 90 J, the remainder of the 150 J total must be kinetic energy. KE = 150 J - 90 J = 60 J.

What is the specific heat of the solid phase? (Please see picture attached)
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

B.0.2 J/g°C

Explanation:

From the attached picture;

  • Heat attained in the solid phase is 200 Joules
  • Change in temperature is 50°C ( from 0°C to 50°C)
  • Mass of the solid is 20 g

We are required to determine the specific heat capacity of the substance;

  • We need to know that Quantity of heat is given by the product of mass,specific heat capacity and change in temperature.
  • That is; Q = mcΔT

Rearranging the formula;

c = Q ÷ mΔT

Therefore;

Specific heat = 200 J ÷ (20 g × 50°c)

                      = 0.2 J/g°C

Thus, the specific heat of the solid is 0.2 J/g°C

Propene. what does the name of this hydrocarbon tell you about its molecular structure?
seropon [69]
This name tells us that the molecule has three carbons and has a double bond in it.
pro means three carbons when talking about hydrocarbons
ene means the presence of at least 1 double bond

ane means all single bonds and yne means at least one triple bond which means that propane is a three carbon molecule with only single bonds connecting them while propyne has three carbons with a triple bond between 2 of the carbons.

I hope this helps.  Let me know if anything is unclear.
