Answer:

a) ΔS = 14.46 J/k

b) ΔS = 70.76 J/k

Explanation:

The general formula to calculate the entropy change accompanied with a process is:

ΔS = ΔQ/T

where,

ΔS = entropy change for the process

ΔQ = Heat Transfer during the process

T = Absolute Temperature during the process

a)

In this case the heat transfer will be given as:

ΔQ = (ΔHfus)(N)

where,

ΔHfus = Molar Heat of Fusion of Tin = 7.029 KJ/mol

N = No. of moles of tin = 1 mol

Therefore,

ΔQ = (7.029 KJ/mol)(1 mol)

ΔQ = 7.029 KJ = 7029 J

and the absolute temperature is:

T = 213°C +273 = 486 k

using these values in the entropy formula, we get:

ΔS = 7029 J/486 k

<u>ΔS = 14.46 J/k</u>

b)

In this case the heat transfer will be given as:

ΔQ = (ΔHvap)(N)

where,

ΔHvap = Molar Heat of Vaporization of Carbon Dioxide = 15.326 KJ/mol

N = No. of moles of Carbon Dioxide = 1 mol

Therefore,

ΔQ = (15.326 KJ/mol)(1 mol)

ΔQ = 15.326 KJ = 15326 J

and the absolute temperature is:

T = 216.6 k

using these values in the entropy formula, we get:

ΔS = 15326 J/216.6 k

<u>ΔS = 70.76 J/k</u>

Find the current flowing out of the battery.
klemol [59]

Answer:

0.36 A.

Explanation:

We'll begin by calculating the equivalent resistance between 35 Ω and 20 Ω resistor. This is illustrated below:

Resistor 1 (R₁) = 35 Ω

Resistor 2 (R₂) = 20 Ω

Equivalent Resistance (Rₑq) =?

Since, the two resistors are in parallel connections, their equivalence can be obtained as follow:

Rₑq = (R₁ × R₂) / (R₁ + R₂)

Rₑq = (35 × 20) / (35 + 20)

Rₑq = 700 / 55

Rₑq = 12.73 Ω

Next, we shall determine the total resistance in the circuit. This can be obtained as follow:

Equivalent resistance between 35 Ω and 20 Ω (Rₑq) = 12.73 Ω

Resistor 3 (R₃) = 15 Ω

Total resistance (R) in the circuit =?

R = Rₑq + R₃ (they are in series connection)

R = 12.73 + 15

R = 27.73 Ω

Finally, we shall determine the current. This can be obtained as follow:

Total resistance (R) = 27.73 Ω

Voltage (V) = 10 V

Current (I) =?

V = IR

10 = I × 27.73

Divide both side by 27.73

I = 10 / 27.73

I = 0.36 A

Therefore, the current is 0.36 A.

A cellist tunes the C string of her instrument to a fundamental frequency of 65.4 Hz. The vibrating portion of the string is 0.5
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer:

a

\lambda  = 1.18 \  m

b

v  =  77.172 \  m/s

c

T  = 151.41 \  N

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The frequency is  f =  65.4 \  Hz

   The  length of the vibrating string is  L  =  0.590 \  m

   The  mass is  m  =  15.0 \ g  =  0.015 \  kg

Generally the wavelength is mathematically represented as

           \lambda =  2 *  L

=>        \lambda  =  2 *   0.590

=>         \lambda  = 1.18 \  m

Generally the wave speed is

          v  =  \lambda  *  f

=>       v  =  1.18 * 65.4

=>       v  =  77.172 \  m/s

Generally the tension on the wire is mathematically represented as

        T  =  v^2  *  \frac{ m }{L }

=>      T  =  77.172 ^2  *  \frac{  0.015  }{0.590}

=>      T  = 151.41 \  N
